I think Pandorum came out before Ark, though I could be mistaken.

Pandorum went into production months after we shot Ark, but was released long before Ark finally made it to Hulu.

When I was offered Ark, I was reluctant partly because "giant sleeper ship where something goes wrong" was already a fairly tired trope (and that was before I'd even heard of Pandorum).  I asked if we could at least change the title, since part of the trope is that the ship is almost always called "the Ark", but obviously I didn't win that battle.

But at least in the "what happens next?" series bible that I wrote, in case we ever get to continue the story, I made two things clear:  the ship is not called "the Ark", and - for the most part - nothing has gone wrong.   The problem is that the characters don't know what's going on, and will have to figure it out.

Funny you should mention.  If we get to do more Ark, I'm planning to have part of it take place in Finland.  If the budget allows, I'm hoping we can shoot there, at least a little bit.    (Not to give too much away, but the Ark story involves something I'm calling The Second Winter War. )

We're not aware that other countries HAVE tv, except Doctor Who which is shot on location in United British Kingdomland, near France.

Amazingly, part of the most recent season was filmed on location in United American Statusland, near Canadia.

It was a really interesting process making Arc rather then "we decided to make Pink Five, then we made Pink Five and then there was Pink Five"

Also I loved Teague's description of guerilla filmmaking as being anything you can cut corners on set and finish up later.

I wonder, could we hear similar stories in the future from the rest of DiF, e.g. Dorkman on the RvsD shorts and Eddie on One More Round (when that finishes)?

As for Hulu, I think it has more to do with renegotiating all the distribution licences, as we have our own set of distributors up here [Citation]. Pandora and Spotify aren't here yet at all and Netflix streaming exists here but has a far far more limited selection.

There was a debate early in the commentary about whether Hulu is available in Canada and I can confirm that it is not. They've been "working on it" for ages.

No doubt in part because of the dreaded Canadian Content requirement, a policy which many other countries have as well.  Just one of the many reasons that makes distributing US shows  more complicated than the Internet Kidz think.

There's an American content rule of sorts as well: it's that Americans don't care what other countries watch on TV.  We're not aware that other countries HAVE tv, except Doctor Who which is shot on location in United British Kingdomland, near France.

That quote is hilarious until you think that Kinski would have been playing the Nazi officer, and being a reckless German maniac really was the same tired old shit for Kinski. 

But there are many reasons why a DiF commentary wouldn't work for Ark - primarily, it's US-only so not all our listeners could see it.

And as a fan of both Sci-Fi and Trey, this is very annoying. I want to see it and I refuse to do so illegally. I just have to have patience, I just hope I don't think it's shite after waiting so long to see it*

Besides, Ark's problem isn't needing more people to watch it, we've got lots of those.  What we need now is more Ark.
