I agree that the sketches tended to be less than great, but it never bothered me that much. I don't watch Sorkin's shows for sketch comedy, I watch them for smart and clever dialogue, which the show had lots of. And like Fig said, we never saw that much of them anyway.
I don't get why people like 30 rock. Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin are the only good parts of it while EVERYTHING else bugs me to no end.
Especially Tracy Morgan. Still haven't laughed at a single gag involving him.
I'm a huge Sorkin fan and loved this one. I got some minor issues with the show, but overall I thought it was very good.
One thing I found very refreshing about it, was how it had a main character who was so clearly an atheist. Especially after West Wing where it seemed like everyone believed in God.
Speaking of Sorkin televison. Anyone who liked this and/or West Wing also need to watch Sports Night. Another excellent show and one where you can clearly see Sorkin and Schlamme figure out what their particular brand of TV looks and feels like.
Hey, don't look at me! It's not my job to explain this movie!
But actually, having just reviewed the scene in question, I have to retract my proposed explanation.
He's right, I'm wrong. Vader is obviously referring to the fact that they just failed to retrieve the plans.
I always thought the line "There will be no one to stop us this time!" was a reference to the opening crawl where they say that Rebel spaceships have just won their first victory against the Empire.
That was a great one.
I enjoyed this much more than your prequel commentaries, which got a bit to negative/drunk/shouty for one who actually thinks they're not that bad.
Now do Empire. Now.
Call me crazy, but I'd say Star Trek is a candidate for 'Perfect Movie' status.
That's right.
I have no problems with Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox or anyone else in this one, but the movie really does nothing for me. Didn’t care about the toys, didn’t care about the cartoons, never cared about cars and don’t care about the movie. And if I don’t care, I don’t like it.
So I enjoyed the commentary much more than I've ever enjoyed the movie.
The Prestige is one of those movies where I'm fascinated by the plot and premise, but the movie itself doesn't really grab me the way I whish it would. Good commentary though.
And I don't like that the machine works...
