Dude, the short film is awesome. Good work. Trey might have more to say about what a bioluminescent sea creature oughta look and move like (see the Abyss commentary), but offhand, my only critique of the animation is that I want to see more of it. The little bugger seems a little stiff for a virtually structure-less floating piece of skin.

In terms of comp, I would have favored the blue/indigo side of things, but that's just aesthetic opinion.

Cool work. How did it go over with the folks at your school?

Maybe we should market Down in Front booze. We have that technology at Cahuenga Labs. Hm.

I still just can't believe it, it just seems to be at such a level of ridiculousness that it can't be possible, but then well there it is.

Hee hee...it's there often, maybe half and half. The ones doing most of the drinking are myself and Dorkman, although Ryan will occasionally have a drink, and once or twice Trey has as well.

We would never endorse piracy, or let people post those links on the forums.

Take that as you will. cool

The Vasquez Rocks area is a national park about an hour out of LA, where they've shot hundred of films and TV show episodes. (Recently and recognizably, it appears as Vulcan in JJ Abrams' Star Trek.) It's a mystifying and awesome 200 foot tall phenomenon, which we unceremoniously threw a cheap styrofom glider off of. Because why not.

This is all Down in Front people, Brian shot and edited this, Matt (PA and DiF guru, Emfayder on the forums) threw the plane, I did the music and talk a lot in it.

Enjoy our stupidity.

Something I'd really like to see is this forum becoming sort of a center for encouragement and critique of other forumers' original projects, be it writing, videos, music, photography, whatever. Ultimately what we have here is an evaluation-based show, and a community of like-minded creative folks with a lot of knowledge in various areas.

So, if you have anything you've made (a video, a script, photography, music), even old stuff, I'd love it if you'd post a thread with a link and some stories about it, so we can see it and discuss.

Hey folks, something we've been working on is now available on the blog, and will later be added to and edited, as well as potentially made easily accessible from the home page if it becomes a thing.

That is the WAYDM glossary.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on what's there, and any terms you'd like us to add to the pile.

I knew a kid who's name was Luke, and his middle name was Skywalker.

People are weird.

And really, isn't the special edition like the special olympics? Let's not fool ourselves. We know it's a euphemism.

Happy new year, two years in a row of Star Wars first-episodes.

Yeah, if there's nothing else you gain from film school, being able to cynically dissect movies is what you come away with.

My issue with film schools is that this is what often happens. Down in Front is cheaper. smile

I lived in (and folks still live in) the Memphis area, I think that Trey is from Tennessee (Nashville I think), and Lowell Cunningham on the MiB commentary is from Nashville as well.

I remember disliking Snatch, I'd have to see it again. Also, welcome to the forum!

Top Gun is a maybe, haven't seen Predator but we have an excellent potential guest for that one. Contact absolutely. Haven't seen 13th Warrior, Riddick, or Crimson Tide. I think we're gonna get to Last Action Hero eventually; I was really disappointed in that movie and it's one of Trey's favorites.
