If you're interested in screenwriting or film structure, I recommend watching the videos at http://www.youtube.com/user/clickokdotcodotuk

The guy regularly deconstructs some of the latest movies and puts the videos online.

Everyone that I have spoken to that has watched the videos finds them useful. I'm a big fan.

Hey folks, Teague here, with the Starship Troopers commentary. Resident panelist Trey was the creature fx supervisor for this flick, so as much as it is a discussion of the film and why it works (or doesn’t), it’s a really interesting look into the visual effects and animation requirements for a big alien invasion movie. (And it has NPH. NPH.)

This is also the last commentary we’ll be releasing that was recorded with excessive mic bumpery. After this, it’s all expensive and stuff. So there’s that. All of the boys were on hand for this episode, and the opinions were as varied as ever. Enjoy.

The first one (Starship Troopers) was so good, in a good/corny kind of way. What happened. It needs to be revived again. In the way that Dark Knight and Predators bring the franchise back to life again.

Is there a movie that falls in the genre of comedy that is also a clear example of the Hero's journey.  The only one I could think of that might work is Mystery Men (1999).

They all follow more or less the same structure. And as indicated by others, it's the same structure but with jokes. There is a whole lot of info about structure and 40 Year Old Virgin, Groundhog Day, Liar Liar and other comedies over at http://www.clickok.co.uk/index4.html

Good Luck.
