Good movie. Dunno why people don't talk about it more ;P

For the new movies, I hope they show the old characters the same way Avatar* did with Legend of Korra. They up front tell you how the old characters have affected the world, then have new characters in this affected world with a completely different conflict than last time. Then every once in a long while have an old character pop up to point the new ones in the right direction.

Something else LoK did deliberately that I think Star Wars should do too is that they made their new main character the exact opposite of the previous one (but still likable). I dunno, it added a lot of variety and explored really different situations than the old gang would have.

*which is seriously just elemental, martial arts Star Wars. YOU GUYS! I'm not kidding. Push yourself through season 1 goddammit!

Well... That's just wonderful :)

Oh, how I love this show. To anyone here who hasn't pushed yourself through season 1 of TLA, (TEAGUE!!!!)  please try to. It's just the best :)

I'm getting so many feelings at this hour. Oh man. Just... I have to sleep now. I'm just so happy :)

And I'd love to read it :)

I like to think the visual parallel with shots of previous relationships in the show make it pretty clear. That and this and this, but whateves.

People will believe what they want :P (and write it as a fanfic for their own headcanon)

Korra Finale stuff again Show
I guess they left it ambiguous *enough* for you to decide if they're into each other if you aren't really into that relationship. That, and I assume that's the most they could get away with while Nickelodeon was over their shoulders.

Teague once made a joke in one of the Harry Potter commentaries, "You fought in the Shipping Wars?" (a la Star Wars). Hoooly crap...

I had only heard of the conflict of Zutara vs Kataang shippers. It's intriguing to me to see such arguing over silly stuff like this. :P

but come on, look at it;)

The Colbert Report and The Legend of Korra ending a day after each other is kind of rough on me right now. I'm so happy that they both ended well tho :)

KORRA FINALE SPOILERS Show
NOTE: not distant enough away to be able to think critically of it yet. So fanwank incoming

Kuvira was an amazing villain this season. I could see where she was coming from and WHY she would think that her plan would be the correct one. I dont agree, but I understand how she would come to that conclusion. (alright maybe she did get a little Nazi-ish and make a giant killing machine but whateves:P)

Speaking of killing machines, the mech's laser was awesome. That shot of the laser horizontally missing korra and causing the explosions behind her was amazing! The huge mech in the city had a lot of shots reminding me of Attack on Titan, just with less disturbing imagery. Very pretty.

Giant battle and only Asami's dad died!  So happy there wasn't a super sad death for the end of Avatar:)

Great end to my favorite season of Korra. Amazing show and universe!:D

...I feel like I'm forgetting something...

Oh yeah!

Holy crap, they actually did Korrasami! Well, as close as they were likely allowed to do but still counts. Love it love it love it.  Absolutely adorable <3

Thanks Michael Dante DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko for making every friday special for the last few months. I really appreciate it:)

I'd love to watch Avatar and Korra, I just can't stand anime, no matter where it's made :(

Not even Miyazaki's work? :(

To be honest, I didn't really like anime before Avatar. It was always the weird stuff that would interrupt the shows I liked on Cartoon Network when I was up late (long live Toonami!).

Avatar showed me that, despite the goofy artstyle, there's really amazing storytelling in anime*. Studio Ghibli has made some of the most creative stuff I've seen. I love Spirited Away despite not being able to explain exactly why.

*and honestly, I haven't seen anything as good as it since then.

  • Zhu Li is totes adorbs.

  • Hummingbird mech suits for next week!

  • Did someone just die at the end there? 0_0

  • Kuvira is my favorite villain so far. Mainly since she's HITLER WITH SUPERPOWERS AND ROBOTS!

I hate you :(

SPOILER Show
I actually liked the episode despite it being a clip show. The last segment in particular was really fun to listen to. Varrick makes me smile in nearly every scene.

I really hope we get to see Toph wreck Kuvira's stormtrooper army soon. (Maybe mother daughter reunion? Maaaybe)

I'm surprised that no one mentioned that The Dark Knight Rises has almost the exact same climax and falling action of this movie.

(I think about this movie a lot)

I love this movie.

I don't remember a time I didn't have the VHS for this (along with Mulan and Toy Story). I've seen this about a billion times and love it to death. I even had a foot tall action figure of the Giant whose arms could come off and its eyes glowed.

I remember Cartoon Network playing it on loop for all of Thanksgiving one year (back when Cartoon Network was consistently good).

Ahh, good times :)

Thought it was great! Really liked all the characters and the pacing felt just right for the story it was trying to tell.
Also, I thought this movie was gorgeous!

(unrelated: From what I gather, most people here didn't care much for Frozen, but I really enjoyed it:) )

(I find TV Tropes' descriptions of anime much more helpful in deciding if I'd be into whatever show it's describing than Wikipedia for some reason)

Kill la Kill is awesome. Love it. It's an awesome deconstruction of the Magical Girl anime genre. It starts out as what is typical of these kinds of shows. Over the course of its run, it manages to justify mostly everything dumb about the genre. Ridiculous and a lot of fun :)

Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is probably my favorite anime. It's almost everything I've ever seen in an anime stuffed into one that changes artstyles on a dime. I had a big, stupid grin on my face from beginning to it's intentional(?) Gainax end.

(Note: I'd suggest watching with subs... as the english dub is surprisingly... not great)

Re: Adventure Time

Man I wanted to like it. It's so colorful and has interesting animation. If it wasn't so not fun to watch.... I got to give it credit for doing its thing and not caring AT ALL if you're on board or not, but ugh.

Teague, on cartoons: Avatar The Last Airbender. It becomes elemental, martial arts Star Wars over the course of the show.

SPOILER Show
1 Why don't the airbenders just hop down from the temple when they are attacked?
2 How did Combustion woman attack Tenzin, the stables, and Bumi, and damm!t, she is just everywhere at the Northern Air Temple.
3 Is bent lava magic? Heat dissipates. Lava cools.
4 Why did Bumi and his sister both need to 'cover the retreat'?
5 Can an earth bender be a metal bender or a lava bender and only one and not by choice? That is important. Why does it seem obvious in the finale but no one says anything when they are training to metal bend?
6 How does Combustion woman put down 5 professional metal bending police officers while also stalling 2 master metal benders? Why did they do nothing but throw rocks and fall? Why do the metalbenders not attack with metal until the single attack which ends the fight?
7 when did Mako learn both of the most powerful fire bending techniques of the previous series? Lightning and rocket flight are the top shelf of fire techniques and he didn't do either (or practice them) until the finale.
8 Why the double-cross with the airbenders? They put them in chains and gave no reason they wanted them. Why not keep their word and release the airbenders?
9 Why do they have to poison Korra in this specific cave? If they don't, why keep trying to kidnap her instead of throwing poison at her and keeping her busy until she dies?

SPOILER Show
1 They're new airbenders who found it difficult to do even during their teaching shown in an earlier episode.
2 She's on an airship that keeps repositioning itself around the temple.
3 Is bent lightning magic as well? If so, then yes.
4 The same reason the Professors at Hogwarts protect their students.
5 This sort of intentionally left vague. Previously, lava bending was shown to only be used by Avatars who had mastered the elements. (that one fire avatar with the volcanoes, Kyoshi, and Roku). We have to assume as of right now that it is one or the other because of the amount of effort he put into trying to metalbend.
6 So we could have a cool fight scene with the Beifongs kicking butt.
7 Mako has been shown to control lightning before, tho I dont remember a part with flight. Both of these are sort of implied to be much more common as time has moved on. (Workers using lightning in the factory, General Iroh using it to maneuver between planes)
8 They'd be giving their enemy a group of people who know where their base of operations (of sorts) is right now.
9 They dont, though it probably seemed smart to isolate Korra before attempting to kill her (in the Avatar state no less)

"In the northern air temple fight, for example, we saw the combustion woman on the airship and she fires a beam at the stable. We see Tenzin struggling in a fight with a less experienced airbender. It should not be a hard fight for him. "

I'm not sure if Tenzin has had much experience in fighting airbenders due to them being wiped out until very recently.

"Then, we see the airship move a bit and combustion woman fires at Tenzin. As the show has been VERY bad about establishing where people are and when, it is a surprise. But, it is a cheap surprise, a contrivance. There is no reason to think the awkward and slow maneuvering airship can have a view of all of the temple."

P'Li is established to have been dealing with Kya and Bumi. After they are taken care of, she moves in on Tenzin. Tenzin is also outnumbered trying to fight off Ming-Hua, Ghazan, and Zaheer.

"WHY doesn't Tenzin run?"
He is still attempting to fight them off to protect his students. He states he won't stop fighting while he's still breathing. (Which is a hugely ironic choice of words due to the previous episode's death of Earth Queen. Gave me an oh crap moment on the chance Zaheer decided to kill him.)

Avatar is my Star Wars, if ya can't tell :P

S3 Finale Thoughts Show
Last few things:
-Those last few minutes haven't left my brain. Seeing what's going on in her head just from the way she's acting and reacting makes me feel so terrible for her. Seeing how the world has said multiple times to her that she is unneeded, then her friends taking over for her while she is recovering... ;_;
(My father, who is very surface level, somehow completely missed this. "Why is she sad? Jinora got tattoos and she beat the bad guy." I'm a bit dense myself so I cant blame him.)

-I'm a bad person. Go Korrasami. Because:
A:they are my two favorites and have had really nice chemistry this season
B: they're so cayoot! ^_^

-I will be so happy if Toph makes an appearance next season.

I'm not sure Nick knows what they are doing with it either. My guess is that since it got mature fast this season maybe they didn't want it to clash with their other programming. I dunno tho. :P

If they made a block at night for different age groups (à la Adult Swim) maybe we wouldn't have this problem.
