Hi Teague! (and happy belated birthday!)

And yes, the logo cast goes Teague (standing up), Brian (shaking fist) , Dorkman (flipping da bird), and Trey the Amazing Stokes ("WHAT THE HELL").

Guess I should update what's been going on with me, too, eh? Other than getting engaged to the fella that started this thread and introduced me to the Wonderful World of FIYH, I've been working at a pretty friggin' awesome company as an illustrator for theme parks around the world. No longer with Imagineering, as that internship ended back in 2015 but I do freelance for them from time to time. I also recently became an artist for the Disney galleries on property, which was a dream of mine since I was young (Ben can confirm I was in tears when I saw my pieces up for sale in one of their shops).

I hope all is well with everybody and that you're all doing super kickass awesome things!

Paperman won for Best Animated Short which was fantastic to see, but I know a lot of people were angry that Get A Horse lost. I need to watch the other shorts. I've heard good things about The Dam Keeper.

Echoing Eddie with Big Hero 6. So damn good. I'm really curious as to which movie takes home the Oscar for Best Animated. There's LEGO, BH6, and How to Train Your Dragon 2 that will probably be the main contenders (if they all get nominated of course). I can't say anything for The Boxtrolls or The Book of Life as I didn't catch them in theaters. Feast is already on the shortlist for Animated Shorts, along with Glen Keane's Duet.

Hey folks! My good friend Marty just started a Kickstarter for a book she wants to sell. Her video on the page explains things better than I could. She's a really rad person and does amazing work with kids. She's also a super talented artist and costumer. If you've been to the San Diego Comic Con masquerades in the past, you may have seen her! I was Belle in her 'The Godmother' skit in 2010 and we took home Most Comedic that year! big_smile (here's another video of it with a full-stage view)

Donated! Can't do a $1000, but a little bit helps, yeah? Also, currently giving your Dead Metaphors tracks a listen - really nice!

-Ending of The Iron Giant
-Ending of Monsters, Inc.
-"When She Loved Me" Toy Story 2
-hospital scene of Marley & Me (Why I thought seeing this movie was a good idea, I'll never fucking know. I bawled reading the book.)
-My Dog Skip. I tried watching it recently on-demand and started breaking down as soon as he got the puppy, then turned it off immediately.  Our middle school showed this movie to us one day (grades 3-8). They had to pass around boxes of Kleenex. It was a horrible idea.
- "I'm Lost" scene of Lilo & Stitch. I blame Silvestri's score for this one. (Psssst Teague, if you guys ever do a commentary for this one, fly me over because I know this movie's production history like the back of my hand and I know the creator)
- Annie (the '82 one). Purely nostalgia-tears.
-Hedwig in HP: Deathly Hallows PT 1
- Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis "I Can't Stop Loving You" (THIS DESTROYS ME)
-ending of The Firebird Suite in Fantasia/2000, purely for the breathtaking beauty of the animation and the uplifting nature of the visuals and music. Disney's Paperman for a similar reason, too.
-"Baby Mine" in Dumbo

There's probably others that my brain is blocking out. I've learned as of late that I'm more emotionally-invested in the fate of animals than humans in movies.

I know it's not a movie, but in Avatar: The Last Airbender, in Tales of Ba Sing Se, when Iroh starts crying while singing Leaves from the Vine, I lose it every time.

Ditto. Doesn't Mako's name fade in on the last shot, too? Knife to the friggin' heart.

TV for me is the ending of Sailor Moon S, with Moon trying to transform. Heartbreaking and yet powerful.

Regarding Warner Brothers animation, The 1990's saw them in the midst of TV boom. They were cranking out DC superhero shows of amazing quality.

Aside from superhero shows, we also got great comedies like Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Pinky & The Brain, and short-lived Histeria (which I think was the last of that whole run). If I recall, most of those were animated overseas. I know Tiny Toons was, same with Batman. The same studio that gave us Little Nemo.

Quest for Camelot-loved it, haven't seen it in a while, but the pit scene stills sends chills down my spine
Osmosis Jones- Love everything to do with it
Space Jam- Pinnacle of my childhood still watch it every 6 months or so
And I even liked most of Back in Action.

Never saw Quest, but it did give us that Celine Dion song...

Space Jam I was horribly obsessed with, Lola Bunny specifically because she was so damn cool. I purposely would give myself a pigtail at the front of my head so I could try to blow it up, like Lola did with her ears. Further evidence I wasn't a cool kid.
Soundtrack holds up though!

Review my illustration professor's kid gave me for The Iron Giant. I keep this in the DVD case because there's nothing other than the disc in there anyway. My professor who actually worked on the film had a much nicer DVD case with exclusive art for the team. Super jealous.

I mentioned it a bit in the chat but in WB's animation line-up, there was Cats Don't Dance in '97, which also bombed and had little to no marketing. I actually saw this one in theaters (but only remember the scene where the studio got flooded) and then gave it a second chance a few years back. Musical numbers are fun, and was the last project Gene Kelly worked on as a choreographer. I recommend giving it a watch if you ever get the chance! Think it's all up on YouTube somewhere, possibly in parts.

For those interested, MondoTees put up some exclusive The Iron Giant goodies yesterday, including a replica of the bolt.

There was a review I read last week where the opener was something along the lines of,

After my son and I left Big Hero 6, the first words out of his mouth were, "I want to go to college."

Ben kinda shared similar thoughts about this one already, but I really enjoyed this movie! Wreck-It Ralph is still my favorite out of the most recent CG Disney films and on my Top 5 Disney Films Ever, mainly because I relate to Ralph and Vanellope in their quest for acceptance and the twist completely caught me off-guard. Seriously, I can't remember the last time I was genuinely shocked at a revelation in a movie, animated or live-action. But BH6 is definitely up there for the most recent films they've put out.

Looking forward to seeing Big Hero 6 again, especially since we lost lines of dialogue due to laughter at many instances. Also can't wait to see Feast again. So happy Disney is still exploring different animation styles, even if they're not always in 2D like they did in the 90s/early 2000s.

Also, give the Art of Big Hero 6 a look if you ever get a chance. Really great stuff in there, including a small chapter on their Hyperion Render.

I swear I didn't know there was already a GUMS in existence! I like the idea that he's Baby Bruce better.

Not a film score, but this old PS2 game Drakengard has a pretty freaky score. Most of the game is running around and cutting down armies of monsters or possessed guards or flying around on a dragon.

For the record, I can see the address when I'm logged out and viewing the Facebook page. Not sure if somebody wants to fix that post or not to restrict the viewership..

Half-tempted to photoshop him on various rides with Ben and I at Walt Disney World and Universal, but I won't.

Avatar -- for which Disney is also building a Land in Florida -- didn't make a billion dollars because anyone gave a tin shit about Jake and Neytiri, it made a billion dollars because people wanted to take a three hour trip to Pandora as many times as they could.

From what I'm seeing from coworkers in Cali, it's going to be pretty fantastic and exciting when it's all done. Probably some of the strongest work I've seen come out of imagineering in a long while.

Personally speaking, I wish that we could see more original concepts like the early days of Disney. Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, etc. The trend these days is to base rides/lands on existing properties. Which is fine, but it'd be nice to embrace originality and imagination again. Hong Kong Disneyland's Mystic Manor is a hit and it's not based on anything. (pssst Teague: Danny Elfman scored that attraction) I kinda feel like I'm in the minority, though..

Thanks for doing this episode, guys! Great listen.

Put every doc in my little black book of recommendations. Great episode! Makes me wanna head back to SDCC to check out stuff like this.
I watched bits and pieces of The Forgotten Rabbit because I'm an Oswald fan (did a little storyboard/animatic revolving around him awhile back). It's always nice to see siblings walking around Walt Disney World, one holding an Oswald plush and the other holding a Mickey Mouse. I'm a sap.

Ditto. I felt like my brain tricked me into thinking it was Josie the Pussycat. My mind was a little blown when I read that Lee Pace was Ronan. Ned the Piemaker as an evil alien dude? Never would've called that in a million years.

Just got back from seeing it for our Team Building and really enjoyed it! Don't really have much to say about it other than that, honestly. Good intro to characters I've never heard of or seen before and I'm looking forward to seeing them again.

Though I feel like I'm in the minority saying that the first Iron Man has been my favorite out of ALL the Marvel films.. Nothing has topped that on my list yet.

I was a little bummed I couldn't be in on the live-chat for this one. I wanna say I saw this as a kid but I don't remember. I think my dad was really into it though because they were promoting it on our first trip to Walt Disney World. They had a guy dressed as The Rocketeer on a jetpack fly around during their Sorcery in the Sky show.

Fun movie and fun commentary!

Hey folks! Finally got around to registering here. Been in the live-chats during a few recordings before, though. Oh and I drew the artwork that is now the iTunes logo, so there's that. :)

Lessee, questions...

I'm Morgan and I'm a concept artist for Walt Disney World.

I found FIYH thanks to my boyfriend Ben (he's the one who posts awesome Disney photography from time-to-time). When he and I first started dating, I would listen to an episode or two while I drove from NJ to CT to visit him. Then I got a gig with Disney and moved to Orlando. For whatever reason, music distracted me while working and FIYH did not! In a way, listening to FIYH helped me feel connected to Ben while he was still in CT since it was something we looked forward to talking about every week. Now that we live together, I still listen to FIYH at work. Yes, I've heard episodes more than twice now. No, I don't see anything wrong with that. You fellas have helped me better understand and appreciate movies so I thank you for that!

Ahem. Sorry for the lengthy response on that...

Worst injury! My classmate cut my elbow with a pair of scissors in first grade. Runner Up: I fell backwards off one of those metal merry-go-rounds at a local playground. It was removed for two years because of that incident.

I don't like pizza, I love it.

Sister's happily taken so you're not getting her digits, bro.

Mom and dad named me after Morgan Fairchild, though I screw with people and say Freeman.
