Tomahawk - congrats!  and good move on not doing the mixing yourself.  I've found that those actually trained in it do a way better job.  all my old stuff sounds like it got run over by a truck compared to the stuff done by a professional engineer.

now just sit back and watch those .000124/play royalties come in!

just popped in to say how much i loved DiF. the podcast and this forum was (is) a pretty special place.  I've always been an audio/music guy, but the commentaries helped shift my perspective to thinking about the visual elements.
hearing Eddie talk about editing caused me to go out and buy "In the Blink of an Eye" and then get slightly obsessed with editing.  It took me down a path of reading all sorts of books on film making, even though I really only work in audio.  In fact, i'm about halfway through the Hitchcock book by Truffaut right at this moment.

So ya, thanks for everything guys.  It's nice to be part, albeit no longer a regular, of this community.   And a special thanks to Teague for always responding to my random emails with an insane amount of technical information.

"Goodnight Ned"

These are all valid points/concerns, but not even an off handed comment about Big Ben or Parliament?

I made a joke to my buddy years ago that they were going to put out the movie and then the reboot of that movie after 6 months.   we're on our way.

but at least then we'll get some sort of super meta take on that about a movie that is rebooted within that very movie...some sort of movie singularity.

Charlie Hunter's great.  he's fantastic to watch in person...hurts your brain a bit.

also highly recommend "Return of the Candyman"  it's just drums, vibes and charlie hunter.

Nice to see this thread get bumped up, just because i love this movie so much.  It's nearly impossible to not see this movie through a 2017 lens if you haven't seen it before, so i can understand if it doesn't hold up to some.

and two things - possibly mentioned in the commentary, i can't remember, it's been a while since i listened.

one thing that always bothered me was the Die Hard 2 doesn't take place during New Years Eve.  one of the last lines in the movie is Argyle saying, "If this is Christmas, I gotta see new years!".

The other is the shoot the glass scene.  the idea that the german terrorists don't understand "schieß dem Fenster" until Hans says it in english is just nonsense.  but you know what? i don't care.  i'll go to the mat for this movie....i'd guess along with every other 35-50 year old dude.

much like everyone else, the past couple weeks have gotten me fairly down.  i figured getting creative might help out.  so i sat down the other night and put together this song.   it takes charlie chaplin's The Dictator and some of the inauguration address.

Teague -

thanks for taking time to listen to it and i appreciate the feedback.  some really good notes in there.
you're note on 'I don't know' is funny because that was the last song to get put on the album and that wasn't planned.  I recorded most of it late one night, sent it to my buddy and he immediately wrote the rest.  it was pretty much a 24 hour turn around.  we both felt that the haggard, tired sound to the overall track (3am recordings can do that to a song) actually worked thematically.   however, in relation to the overall sound of the album, i can see your point.

We've already discussed the next album being super driving.  I think we got this mood out of our system.  But i do think that some of this material like Friday Night is just asking to be paired with either abstract visuals, or buried in a scene, something Lynchian.  (*glances around the message board*)

glad you liked it.   thanks.

Hi folks -

It's been forever since i posted and my lurking is way down due to my new job, still love this place though.

But i do have a new thing that we've finished.  My duo project Diego Hayes finished up another album.  It's called "The Break" and is loosely organized around a fictional relationship falling apart.   It's a little moody, has some drive, and get just a little weird towards the end.

hope you folks enjoy.  We're really happy with how it turned out...and of immediately started on the next project in order to avoid the inevitable crash after a project.

So random...Just last week I took a bunch of samples from this movie and put it in a song.
It was one of those movies I saw a ton when i was little...I have a vague memory that there's a chase scene along the river walk in San Antonio.
and I agree with Eddie...Dabney Coleman was all over my childhood...in a non creepy way.

until now i didn't realize how badly I wanted to see a sequel to Lost in La Mancha.  so it's really a win-win

ha...thanks BDA.  appreciate it.  that's sort of my thought on it...it's a thing now.  for a long time it was just a string of emails, but now it's tangible....damnit...ok, it's not. but it's still a thing!

awesome...thanks peeps!   it's interesting, the feedback has been all over the map and no one seems to say the same band.  i take that as a good sign.

glad you like the cover. it's just a blown out photoshop filter, but seemed to work.

fun fact, i did the entire thing on my ipad, then sent it to my buddy in new york where he added guitar and lyrics.

howdy folks...been a while.

Just finished up this album with my buddy from Earth to Eugene.  We started sending ideas back and forth and then all the sudden, it turned into a full blown project.  It's a shorty (just 30 minutes), but we're super happy with how it turned out.  so listen loud and often.

thanks!

Really bummed i missed this, but glad I get a chance to catch up on it (well most of it) now.

solid work guys.  can't wait to hear it devolve into nonsense in about 14 hours.

thanks!

So I just watched this a couple days ago...had actually meant to see it in the theater, but didn't and am now super bummed that I didn't.

I enjoyed everything about it, but as it ended, my first thought was, "can't wait to go over to the board and see what the guys had to say about this movie."  so there's that.

and yes, this is a great movie to get baked and watch, but this is no stoner flick, that's for damn sure.

also, I listened to this ep at work and was surprised at how quickly it flew by.  excellent work on this one.

re: Backdraft... this is a useless and random bit of trivia.  The music from the movie ("show me your firetuck" - ha) was actually used in the original Iron Chef tv show.

lol...I love the image of Vader bouncing around at a house party, making sure everyone's have a good time, that there's enough punch, etc.

Of course, then he gets too drunk and starts throwing furniture with his mind.
