Topic: Food, pictures of them

'Bout time I made the french part of myself useful here.

I happen to make some decent dishes from time to time, so when I do, I try and make them look cool and take pictures of 'em. How about you guys?

Now, describing what's that made of would be an interesting exercise. Even in French I sometimes have a hard time doing so.

Re: Food, pictures of them

Hey Eddie...any chance of us ever getting to see a picture of the Balroq burgers? They sounded so epic.

Also your pic isn't working for me, if I right click and open in new tab it works. But it's not displaying in the chat.

EDIT: BTW, whatever it is, it looks delicious... but that may just be because I haven't eaten in almost 30 hours.

Re: Food, pictures of them

My wife is Nepali and this is a typical starter in when you arrive at someones house for dinner.
Achar (best food ever with beer), sel roti (bread made from rice flour) and typical meat and beans dishes with a strong sauce.

Re: Food, pictures of them

Tonight is Bo Bun beef. Rice vermicelli, carrots, cucumber, fish sauce, sesame seeds, garlic, coriander, and a bit of sugar and lemon juice. Added some crushed peanuts on top of it.
The beef was meh but overall it was pretty great.

I'm starting to think Paul is a superhero.

I've always thought Zarban is a supervillain.

(I'm starting to hate Flickr's thumbnail sharpening)

Ravioles (small ravioli) filled with Saint-Marcellin cheese, au gratin with lardons, cream and nutmeg.

I love doing those descriptions. You guys feel free to correct me if there are words you'd use differently.

Leffe... reminds me when me and a friend of mine walked entire Rue Saint-Denis stoping in every bar we could find on the way and had one Leffe at each stop. It was an interesting day to say the least.

My favorite Nepalese food... Achar, a mixture of pickled fruits and vegetables.

The sauce is porcini mushrooms with cream and veal stock (translations are getting harder). Coarse salt, red wine. Cheese. Coffee. I feel so great.

I'm digging this one with something I made the other night.

http://i.imgur.com/qcbs8F3l.jpg

Salmon, spinach and goat cheese tart. Some eggs, cream, herbes de provence, and a bit of grated Parmesan to help it grill.

It was goooooood. I even made the pastry myself, as I forgot to buy some ready-made.

Re: Food, pictures of them

This was my entry into KCRW's 5ht annual Pie Contest.  It's my own recipe, USHITORA SHEPHERD'S PIE.

http://t.co/o2awIVOhly

Mince meat is Grass Fed Oxtail and ground chuck.  Oxtail was braised for 10 hours in Bacon Dashi, Red Trolley IPA, and my patented Sri Racha Soffrito.  Mash was actually Cauliflower and Parsnip Puree, with Mozarella cheese and Panko bread crumbs up top.

Damn, saffron is powerful. I only put a pinch of it in the dough and it was overwhelming. Good to know.
