Huh, so that's what Alex would look like as a basketball player.

Amish Alex.
I'd like to just leave this here...
(no sound)
but I can't without this short story:
Teague was like, "Tracking, dude... shuh."
And I was all, "yer a pussy, dude, I'll do it."
But now I'm like, "Tracking, dude... shuh."
I'm re-running the first camera a few dozen more times to try to calm it down, but the 2nd shot is hella stable.
Also, we are officially looking for mask rotoscoping volunteers now!! As you can see, Straya and some foreground objects need to be masked back in over the (still technically temporary) matte painting of Starwarts.

Sorry - forgot about this. Rigging for maya DrewJ is okay.
Cool, screwball, that's why I keep bumping the thread, it is easy to forget.
Who else can use Maya here? Screwball is cleaning up, texturing and now potentially rigging the Probe Droid model.
We'll need an animator.
Maya can export via FBX which also works in things like Softimage and 3DS Max.
Do we need to start considering cutting this down to just the sword fight? Or cutting the setup and getting right to the landing? Just being realistic about the scope here.
I have no feel for the level of effort involved, and some of the shots are pretty ambitious.

It's your show, Zarban.
My level of commitment is still very high, fwiw, and I really appreciate the effort of all the folks who have submitted their various contributions so far.
Unfinished fan-films make baby Chewbacca cry.
I appreciate the commitment! If you think it's doable, then full speed ahead!
Remember Iron Fist of the Obsidian Sith? We don't need another repeat
You mean Tydirium? I'm still waiting for that to come out. Anything that can claim to be a repeat of IFOTOS, on the other hand, would be amazing.
At least Tydirium has shown progress since it's inception.
Anybody remember son of the suns?
*EDIT*
I'm working on my bits now.
<brainstorms mild insults about your bits>
I got nuttin'.
Despite all appearances, I'm still around and still up for 3D tasks and the lightning shit.
Oh, hai Teague. Didn't see you there
I'm still game - better to catch me on my email DrewJMore if you want me for anything - I'm a shit forum member for checking the threads.
Hey, I know you all are still doing the CGI, but I had a few spare minutes of quiet at my house (it's rare) and got the audio for Straya's master's lines.

Great! Is there movement on any other fronts? Drew, where do we stand on a work list for people to volunteer for? Are we still working this list?
We're still powering through these roto shots.

Fireproof brings the Master! I hope all the hype hasn't ruined me on it...
I'll have to listen tonight.
@Zarban: saber roto is complete, and thoroughly awesome.
What is currently in process is:
Tom is working diligently on the Darth Voyne holograms.
Screwball is fixing up the CGI probe droid model.
Teague is probably not working on Niken's spaceship exteriors because he got distracted by a butterfly or something.
I'll have to comb through the task list to give a better update, but off the top of my head I know we could use:
masking help (to help integrate the CGI elements into the live footage)
set extension artwork (to hide the Earthiness of the locations).
There is a job for anyone who'd like to adjust the saber glow settings on a shot-by-shot basis,
if anyone is interested in doing some of the CGI compositing we can certainly share that.
Also, we could use a CGI animator for the probe droid's menacing appearance.

Let me know if the quality is ok. I had to mess with the mic levels a touch.
Also, when are we doing the sequel to this film where Tom and I have a holographic lightsaber duel of the masters?
Yeah, about that.
I might have to NOT do them after all.
I have the footage, if anyone wants to have a whack at it, though. The main issue there, however, is that as the lighting wasn't too bad, and the resolution(4K) is there, the lens I shot it with was a piece of garbage. I might have to reshoot it AGAIN, but then it'll have to wait until next week when I actually have some time on my hands again, and a new 28mm lens to work with.
Here's The footage if anyone wants to take over from here, though. (1.8GB, 3840x2160, 24p)
I'll download that, thanks all the same Tom. We're going to degrade the dung out of it anyway, so don't worry about the lens thing. Now, on the other hand if the //performance// sucks we're going to need that reshoot... ;-)
edit:
no worries on that either. You really brought it man.

Shoot, I got busy with another thing last night; I'll get 'er tonight for sure.
re: the Masters' showdown: I have worked on ways of making it possible for people to duel without being together in the same physical spacetime. (Once, I had to fight my own clone...) It's tricky to shoot but fun to VFXify.
edit:
Cut and print, great stuff FP. Thanks again!

You're welcome. Glad it turned out ok
I think it needs more transparency. Unless she's able to project solid matter from her wrist.
