What's the first rule of fight club?
It's a reach for sure but a funny one...
When it started that was my feeling, all very Shire-like and transformation of Orthanc. There's even an uprooting of a large tree!
Pretty sure it was intentionally Shire-like. That is how they include Tolkien in the whole 'best of Britain' deal. I'm sure I read that somewhere.
To be fair, the Shire is inspired by rural England. And it hasn't changed much since Tolkien's time.
This is very true, although it would be odd if they didn't make a LOTR reference somewhere, although, they are not really children's books, are they? They focused a lot on that type of literature so who knows.
I really enjoyed the music and movies part of the ceremony.
Natalie Portman & Gary Oldman
The sexiness level of this photo is simply off the scales.

O_O
Very subtle
This was taken in London tonight-
What if other Olympic sports were photographed like beach volleyball? I for one am in favour of those swimmer abs.

Hairy asses do not belong in the cool photos thread!

Well, most of those are just clumsy crop jobs, but some of them are perfectly valid sports photos. Fully half the point of sports in general is watching beautiful bodies do amazing things.
If all you want is a celebration of the human spirit, you can watch chess and golf and Scrabble competitions. And if you want to complain about the objectification of the human body, there are lots worse things to complain about.
/promises not to expect all women to look like fashion models if women promise not to expect all men to look like body builders
On a related note, the diversity of athletic body types is pretty damn cool.
No hairy butts, promise.
The Mayor of Reykjavik geting ready for the Gay Pride Parade yesterday!
Same guy later that day in the parade!

I'm pretty sure BAMF would apply here.

Just going to post a link, as there are quite a few great images that this guy has done.
He has been on a kick of character concept designs in different genre's. So we get things like ...
Rockabilly Batman & Villains
Steampunk Spiderman & Villains
Old West Justice League
And the most recent, and why I decided to post them here, Star Wars as an 80's High School movie. So things like Vader, Bobba Fett & Stormtroopers as a motorcycle/dirtbike gang, Ben Kenobi as the wise Lit teacher & Yoda as the wizend asian coach, The Emperor as the evil principal, Jabba as the fat mean Janitor, and Tarkin as the mean Math instructor.
Just good art capturing the essence of the characters in the new setting.
Question...why does Luke look EXACTLY like Marty Mcfly?
Well without looking, I think he does expressly state that that character is a inspiration/ reference for the Luke character. And let's be honest, is that in any way a bad thing?

The Star Wars redesigns are cute, but the Old West Justice League makes me melt.
