Re: The New Introduction Thread

Hi there. I'm that french guy from the chat the other day. I think it'll mean much more than my nickname to many of you, but hey, it's my fault!

How did I end up here? Well, I happen to follow Ryan on Twitter, and he had tweeted about the mocap discussion coming up, so I clicked on the link, and I discovered a livestream of five guys drinking beer and talking about movies (yeah, I had missed the mocap talk). I thought "Hey, looks nice, let's stay a little, but not too late, I get up early tomorrow". I went to bed at 5am. I should be cursing you guys, but it was worth it. Well, maybe not the last two hours, which were fucked up discussions and bad jokes in the chat... whatever. During that time, I figured it couldn't hurt to register on the forum, plus Teague said he would immediately go validate it. How nice. I just began listening to some of your podcasts, and I really like them. Especially the Episode I one, because I just so agree with everything said, yet still can't hate it. I'm a SW fan big time, and since I'm twenty, I discovered it with the prequels, so that may explain it.

So, who am I? I mean, besides being french? As I said, I am twenty. I like movies, TV shows, games, internet stuff, I play electric guitar, I like photography, and I'm totally into astronomy. And I fucking love food ; I'm french, duh.
I also just began studies in VFX, after two years of computer studies which bored the shit outta me. Funny enough, I should thank Ryan for this, because when I was a teen, I had followed him a lot with RvD and all the other stuff he had uploaded about After Effects. It's kinda because of him that I began taking an interest in VFX.

My worst injury... I have no idea. I've never been into sports, I've never broken any of my bones, never even twisted an ankle. I did almost crack my head open when I was a kid though. That fucking bee would not leave me alone, and I fell head first on the stairs. I'd say it was painful, but I don't remember anything except my mother telling me my hair was all red.
I like my pizza with the thinnest crust possible. I have this guy back at my parents' town, he makes his pizzas with the thinnest crust, and they taste so fucking good. Gotta send you some.
My sister's phone number... Well, if you ever find it, please send it to me, because I don't remember ever having a sister. I do have an older brother though, but he's already taken. Sorry, Teague.

Anyway, glad to be here. Forgive the mistakes, I'm still far from being able to call myself bilingual. If anything, this forum will help me get better! See you around.

I'd say you're bilingual. That was a convincingly English post.

Thanks! What made me say that is probably more my spoken english which still needs some work... or better, spending some time in an english country, but that's not gonna happen any time soon, I'm afraid so.

I read it, as I read most things, in the voice of Miley Cyrus.

WELCOME!

I thought you were pretty cool in the chat the other night. Then I read THIS atrocity. Time to re-evaluate my stance.

I never did the introduction thing myself... I kind of like to lurk and read what other people have to say rather than get in deep with the conversation thing. My name's Clayton... I do videography for money in my cruddy little area and in my free-time try to make movies that I actually give a shit about. So I'm like a hooker who still likes to have sex when she gets home. Don't know why I made myself a girl in that simile, maybe that says something about me. Anyway, I found the show back at the beginning thanks to your thread on TheForce.Net fan-films and I've been listening ever since. You guys strike a strong balance between film criticism and dick jokes, so it's really the only podcast I need.

And there's another pull quote for the DiF poster.  If we ever have one.

Re: The New Introduction Thread

Zarban this message is just for you!

Damn you, your website and the horse you rode in on.

What are you doing to me? Your website is filled to the brim with internet goodness.
I have a wife to love and children to feed... I DO not need all this distraction and I don't appreciate your hard work one bit. Nuff said!

You're welcome! It's always nice to know that the things I do instead of having a life are ruining the lives of others. Try my room-for-room, whole-history documentation of the White House....

Re: The New Introduction Thread

Hello there folks, as it say over there to the left I'm Braedan51. That name was originally chosen for my half elf druid in the original Everquest and it has just stuck. I don't have any idea where the 51 came from as it has absolutely no bearing on my life..

I was born & raised in New York, but not the city. I'm a suburbanite. I hate anyone that refers to Long Island as 'Strong Island'. I'm a mechanical engineer because I didn't have the balls to risk my financial future and make films. Sadly, I'm still broke-ass poor.

I found DiF (and several other wonderful podcasts) through Zarban's site - seriously Z I don't know how many people you've turned onto DiF, but we're all in your debt. I love good films and bad movies. I have a soft spot for horror movies. I always felt utter disdain for most of the big budget garbage, but I could never articulate WHY. Thanks to DiF, that's all changed.

I try to be in the chatroom as often as possible and I'm a whore. I'll say anything in hopes of getting a mention on air, sometimes I succeed.

The biggest surprise I have found while listening to DiF is just how much of a fan I have always been of Trey - even before I knew who he was.  The 1988 remake of The Blob has been one of my favorite films since its release. I also own, Pet Semetary II, The Abyss, Robocop 2, Species and Starship Troopers.

To be fair, I bought Species for Natasha Henstridge's breasts, but the puppetry is very well done too.  big_smile

I wish more people would recognize that they are fans of mine.  Their lives would be so much better.

Seriously, thanks man.  You actually own more of my movies than I do.

Re: The New Introduction Thread

I've been listening for over a year and love the piss out of this show.  I live in Chicago and listen whilst researching lupus.  The show combines everything I love: movie talk, science, humor, and subliminal messages about why stalking my ex-girlfriend will pay off one day.  Big fan.

Re: The New Introduction Thread

Never been a member of a forum but since I've become a fan of DiF I decided to go ahead and sign up for this one.

Went with the username "farley22" since Farley was a nickname I had in high school and 22 is just my favorite number.  It's also because when I joined the live chat of DiF I needed a ID name and that was the one that poppped up in my head at the time.

Happen to come across Down in Front when I was on Zarban's site.  Downloaded all of the episodes that have been available and was only this year that I started to listen to the shows live.  Can still remember when the "Shashank Redemption" commentary wasn't working you decided to do something different and that became "Wanted" which in its own rights was fun to listen to.  Also like the DiF crew I'm from California and for some reason it's cool to live in the same general area of the show.

While it's the commentaries, intermissions or whatever else, I've come to enjoy whatever DiF puts out and hope to do so for ever how long.

Re: The New Introduction Thread

Fuck yeah. Welcome to the forum, dude! Go bump some old threads or whatever.

I'm hip with the lingo.

Oh! Lingo! For the total forum virgin, terminology!

The whole thing here is "the forum," so all of everything is in "the forum." It breaks down into individual "boards" (episodes, off topic, creations). Those break down into individual topics, or threads.

Um. What else.

That's basically it. Then you talk about porn or Star Wars or whatever.

Re: The New Introduction Thread

That's cool. I go to a lot of different offices with cubicle farms, and it amazes me how often people seem to think nothing of working for decades in spaces that utterly dull and bland. I mean, you don't have to have a bunch of wasted space and chandeliers and art installations to make a place interesting. Just some different colors, textures, and/or shapes here an there.

Long time listener, 1 day old board member.  I live in the Memphis area and found DIF about a year ago via a Kevin Smith tweet - so that's one thing he's done that you guys might like. smile  Went through the majority of the back catalog and will one day watch/listen live.  I have a long commute that DIF makes oh so much more enjoyable..and a cubicle job that DIF also makes more enjoyable.  So really, DIF is like Prozac.  Thanks, guys!
