Re: Announcement! Things!

I'm interested in the change. I'll admit - I've looked forward more to The Intermission week-to-week than the commentaries - partially for the easier-to-digest format (don't need to find/pirate a copy of the week's movie, only takes up 30 minutes-1 hour of my day), and the diversity of topics addressed.
Obviously I hope you guys don't forget about the commentaries completely (maybe ease it down to one a month, or at least some sort of set schedule). As for last-call suggestions, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Paranormal Activity, and This Film Is Not Yet Rated, though the latter may be more appropriate for an Intermission.

Re: Announcement! Things!

Holy shit you guys, this is wonderful news.  Congratulations on 4 frikkin' years, and we're really looking forward to the live commentary.

Change is good, you guys are good, the new format sounds good, let's do a Troma film!

This means I'll finally have to watch lord of the rings, doesn't it? hmm

Re: Announcement! Things!

I'll come to this thing if you want but I'm doing commentary for completely different movies.

specifically Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, 'Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo' and Schindler's List.

What would be really trippy is if they managed to line up in any of the comments, in a Wizard of Oz / Dark Side of the Moon.

The prospect of a LOTR marathon has got me a little giddy, I just hope the one for No3 isn't the bunch of you snoring, having knackered yourselves out with the 7hrs(?) of talking for No1+No2. smile

Re: Announcement! Things!

Glad to see that DiF has been able to go on for THREE YEARS and is continuing on just getting better.  Been checking out the site regularly since the Terminator 3 commentary was archived on the site and close to a year to hearing the live shows and hasn't been disappointed at all.  Haven't also agreed with the opinions about some of the movies but I'm okay with that.  Not much of a fan of the LotR movies but I'm looking forward in seeing how you guys do that marathon.

You also said that you wanted us to give suggestions on movies to do before March 10th and I have ideas.  Some of those, in no more particular order, are:

The Rock
Poltergiest (due the 2 others another day)
Incredible Hulk (you did "Hulk" so why not do the more popular 1)
Scream (mainly because I believe Teague said he never saw it)
Tremors
The Sandlot
Animal House
Porky's
Con Air
Shawshank Redemption (maybe you could finally get through it all)
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
Big Trouble In Little China
Tangled
Snakes On A Plane
Demolition Man
Stephin King's It
Big
City Slickers
Road House
Red Dawn
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

I know that the suggestion list is long and I highly doubt that you'll get through most of them but if some of them can be done I'll be okay with it.  If anymore come to me, which might happen, I'll post it.

Re: Announcement! Things!

I think in terms of must do commentaries, you guys really ought to finish off any of the ones Trey has worked on. Specifically, since he's worked on Robocop 2, you guys really, really need to do Robocop 1 and 2, those are pretty glaring omissions. Ditto Polar Express (it sounded like he had some amazing horror stories from that one).

Re: Announcement! Things!

I'm really hoping job / financing allow me to get out there for this.

I haven't seen anyone suggest a Coen Brothers film, and I'd really like to get the DIF perspective on one, preferably one they've written and directed.

Re: Announcement! Things!

Predator, the Blade films, nolans batman films, interview with the vampire, bram stokers dracula, underworld, total recall, the running man, x-men first class, equilibrium, the Bourne films, the rock, austin powers, The Silence of the Lambs, The Great Escape.

I'm also looking forward to the lord of the rings commentarys.

My calendar has been marked.

I'd love to see a big, blowout Transformers 3 commentary. Just pure, classic DiF movie hatred.

Re: Announcement! Things!

Movies you have to do:

The Cowboys (best John Wayne movie ever)
A Bridge Too Far (I love it, but something is wrong with it and I don't know WHAT)
Metropolis, complete version (you can put all your silent film comments into that one)
Primer (I dare you!)

Re: Announcement! Things!

Apologies if I butcher any spelling but I'm posting from my phone because my computer ate another HD. My short list of movies I'd like to see done repeat a couple already said, and add in more. This would be so much easier had my DVD collection NOT gone up in flames when my house burned to the ground.

Top Gun
Dazed and Confused
The Sting
Blazing Saddles
Sean Connery era James Bond
Pierce Brosman era James Bond
The rest of the Pirates movies
Bullitt
Gone in 60 Seconds (the remake)
Captain America
The Lion King
Saving Private Ryan
Toro, Toro, Toro
National Treasure
National Treasure: The Book of Secrets
Sherlock Holmes
Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The Protector (Tony Jaa version)
Ong Bak 2
Twister
Moneyball
Stardust

Also, I've talked it over with Teague, and I will be sending a late holiday early anniversary care package for the group in time for this shindig. If someone official at DiF headquarters can PM me a list of attendees, I'd appreciate it. I'd hate not to make enough for everybody to enjoy.
