Topic: What films are you most looking forward to in "Twenty Twelve"

Sorry if there is already a thread on this topic (I did a quick search but didn't see one).
I'd love to hear some of DIF's most anticipated films this year.

Let's try not to get too carried away, so try to limit yourself to just 3-5 titles.

My personal list:

Nice to see some love for Chronicle! I think it'll be a breakout hit.

I'm interested in seeing a bunch, but there are only five I'm guaranteed to see in theaters. So... good cap, guy.

1.) Seven Psychopaths
2.) Skyfall
3.) Prometheus
4.) The Dark Knight Rises
5.) The Hobbit

NAMEDROP ALERT: Max Landis, writer of CHRONICLE, is an acquaintance of mine from Before He Was Famous. I haven't read CHRONICLE but I have read several of his other scripts and he's really fucking good at what he does, and has a particular talent for quirky characters and off-the-wall ideas, so that's one worth looking forward to.

Prometheus
The Dark Knight Rises
Looper
Lincoln
Titanic 3D (a cheat, perhaps, but it's one of the first that comes to mind)

Huh, another Les Mis movie? Someday they will get it right...but I'm not convinced that Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe are the men to do it. Damn.

Edit: I just noticed they're actually doing the musical version, and I would totally go see Hugh Jackman in the musical version. I'm officially interested. Can Russell Crowe sing?

Re: What films are you most looking forward to in "Twenty Twelve"

I've long since grown tired of the found footage gimmick. Even when it works I often wish they'd just made a real movie out of the same story...

Which is weird because the CHRONICLE script blew me away. By far my favourite script of 2011 (second fave was The Grey). And from the Trailer it looks like they nailed it.

I've read a few of his scripts now. He's a mad man. But Landis is the real deal. I reckon he's gonna be huge.

I can't wait to see what Tony Gilroy does with the Bourne franchise with Ed Norton starring with Renner.

ARGO is another one I'm really interested in. It's a fantastic real life story and they had a great script. Affleck seems to be going from strength to strength as a filmmaker. Looks like he;s gonna tackle THE STAND next... Gulp...

Oh... and don't get your hopes up for the Total Recall remake...

Django Unchained
Dark Knight Rises
Prometheus
The Avengers (Joss yay!)
Cabin in the Woods (Joss yay!)
Looper (Rian Johnson yay!)
Hunger Games
Skyfall (gotta be better than Quantum doesn't it?)
Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Spider-man (do over!)

Chronicle does look interesting, really liked the trailer.

I'm getting really excited for Chronicle. As someone living in Seattle, it just seems extremely awesome to finally see a superhero movie actually taking place here. Cause of our proximity to Vancouver, which is cheaper to shoot in, almost nothing high profile ever gets shot here. If they actually have super hero fights on the Space Needle I'm fucking in.

Speaking of "The Grey" anyone go and see it? I just did and it is creepy and thrilling. Liam Neeson totally nails it.

I am looking forward to "Dark Knight Rises," "The Hobbit," and "Brave."

I'm surprised "Battleship" got no love here-I mean, Liam Neeson is in it smile

Oh, and "War of the Titans" and "Lockout"

God loves you!

Based on trailers alone, The Grey is the movie I'm most interested in seeing.   The trailers paint it as a cross between Flight of the Phoenix and The Edge, with snow instead of desert and wolves instead of a bear.  Hey, do that right and I'm yours.

Roger Ebert's review says he walked out of the film he saw AFTER The Grey because he was still hung up on The Grey... well hell - now I'm really intrigued.

Speaking of Neeson, there was an extended Battleship trailer attached to Chronicle (see Chronicle thread), and if that trailer had ended with the title card "Transformers 4, with a special appearance by Liam Neeson" nobody would have questioned it.  Maybe it'll turn out to be a fun Independence Day-esque affair, but wow, the trailer looked like a Transformers fan trailer.  "Check it out - a hundred shots of military guys running and firing at big machines that go mmmmmrrrrrroooooWWWWWWrrrrrr.   You like that, right?"

Re: What films are you most looking forward to in "Twenty Twelve"

I thought that The Grey was a mixed bag. I understand why people liked it, but it just didn't do anything for me. There was this weird, uneven mix of philosophy and wolf-punching. Both elements were great alone, but together they didn't quite mesh.
