There are few things more beautiful than watching this man play.

Watch this. I think it's important.

I think it's important too....and I think Invisible Children by and large does great work, but I also believe it oversimplifies the problem.

"This Kony thing is happening though so let's all do a couple of things to make it as pleasant and useful as possible. To the Kony 2012 idealists: do your research. Don't just watch a 30 minute video and think you now understand the complexities of African politics and how to fix them. To the Kony 2012 cynics. Open dialogue with people about Kony and the wider problems and help them understand things. Not patronizingly or cruelly or even with the intent of changing there minds. Just help them direct there sudden burst of idealism so it can do the most good."

I think we should keep in mind, that we here at DiF should know better than most how misleading and biased a 30 min piece of film can be. Just something to keep in mind.

Very very good lecture by Mark Andrew about storytelling and boarding out a story.

also, for those of you interested in videogames and want to hear a really smart guy throw out a lot of information about what games are and what they could be and why he makes games the way he does:

I saw WIllWright speak at Comic Con a couple years ago and it was the perfect mix of stimulating and fun.  I always believed that true genius lied in conveying complicated ideas in a simple way, and he is a master at it.

Have you ever had one of those oddly crystallizing moments where the full realization of a truth just slams you in the face and you can see the complete understanding of it? This giant mass of flesh in front of me, whatever it happens to be, is a living, breathing animal that has a brain. It has thoughts and feelings and emotions. It can feel sad, or happy. It may not look like me; in fact it may look completely an utterly alien to me. But it still feels and thinks.

This video did this to me, and it sent a chill down my spine.

That's not just an elephant doing it's elephant thing, that's my 4 year old cousin running out at recess and jumping head first into the biggest snow drift he can find. It's just such a relatable thing, that I had to remind myself, this is a fucking elephant!, and then my previous statement kicked in.

PS. Plus baby elephants are insanely cute so win there.

Every time I watch a Haka I feel just that much more masculine. Although, that one was a bit more tame than a lot of the ones I've seen.

The really crazy ones are AMAZING.

Chris, this is the standard Ka Mate haka (which, yes, I learned how to do and can perform it if drunk/brave enough) led by All Blacks legend and ACTUAL Orc, Tana Umaga.

And here is where the Tongan national team to do their traditional Sipi Tau VS the Ka Mate.  Shit got real.
