Props for the VHS unfucked with Star Wars. Also props for the Alien Queen model, that thing looks badass.
Quick iPhone pic of my collection. I'm currently in between formats in the Hitchcock department, in case anyone noticed the scant selection. Also, no District 9...haven't even seen it yet. Did I add that one to my Embarrased To Admit I Haven't Seen post?
I have a few of them, just Ikea bracket things.
A friend of mine has a whole wall of his apartment covered in them - they scale really well.
Jake Lloyd has the most impressive wall 'o movies I've ever seen.
I don't have it, nor do I plan on purchasing it.
Picture will come... later.
Yea, Ikea. Only drawback is they are wall mounted, so you can't just casually rearrange your layout. But they do look cool. I believe they were $6.00 each and hold between 32-36 DVDs and blu-rays.
The odd things at the top of the first pic are 750 GB hard drives that are extensions to my DVR and together hold about 300 HD movies.
Glad we did this. Now I can see what I have in my collection even when I'm traveling.
Discoveries:
Hey, I own Monty Python's Meaning of Life!
Hey, I own The Magnificent Seven!
Hey, where's The Simpsons Eighth Season?
Hey, where are Fringe seasons 1 and 2?
Hey, I own a LOT of children's movies for a guy who does not own children
Hey, my Hovitos fertility idol has become separated from my Indiana Jones movies

I love that you have Dapper Dan. Gods I adore that film.
Do I spy Wallace and Gromit within your collection?!

Yep. Curse of the Were-Rabbit, anyway.
*searches for W&G shorts, finds VHS tapes, adds W&G shorts Blu-ray to Amazon cart*
I also have all Wallace and Gromit shorts and movie on DVD.
I find it strange that UK releases have all those colored certificate icons all over them. It's one thing to require them prominently displayed on the back or something, but on the spine?
Somehow the empire survived for hundreds of years without books being labeled that way....
Yeah, they are rather prominent.
The TV stuff.
The Chinese/Japanese/Korean shelf.
Then the Blurays and HD-DVDs.
No District 9 here, sorry fellas.

On the spine, the back, the front...you name it and there's a certificate there! I'm so used to it though, so any imports I get just look strange. US blu-ray cases are also thinner than ours.
Speaking of the ratings being plastered everywhere, back in the days of VHS we used to have these messages before the film started (after trailers and anti-piracy stuff).
The opening of the front page video. Those are all DVDs on my bookshelves. 600 dvds give or take. Because only nerds read books.
Okay, here's my entire current iTunes movie library. I use my Apple TV to watch them. SO much more convenient than DVDs. Some of these are digital copies, but most of them are ripped DVDs from my collection or a friend's collection. The movies with a blue dot by the title are the ones I haven't seen, at least all the way through, or maybe I saw too long ago to remember.
And disregard the baby movies (e.g. Barbie, Elmo, etc.)! My friend has little kids. But I'll own up to the older cartoons like 'The Secret of NIMH' and 'Balto'. Those are mine, and classics!
Dammit. Sam beat me to it, but as all my movies are on an external drive at this point, I've been meaning to do an iTunes collage myself. 338 movies and 490 GB as of today.
Also, welcome you to our little corner of the internet sir.

At least half my collection isn't available for streaming. And you can't stream director's commentaries or other extras—or even subtitles, for the most part.

Haha, good sized collection! Mine has kind of topped off but is still slowly growing. I've got a lot of TV shows too. And everything's on a network hard drive. No need to plug anything into my laptop!

Yeah that's the only thing, you can rip the movie with commentary or subtitles but you have to rip the movie with the settings baked in, no switching back and forth. I ripped Discreet Charm with the subtitles, because I don't know French (Not that I'll be watching it again anyway haha). But I don't want 2 or 3 copies of the same movies taking up hard drive space.
And yeah I wish iTunes had some sort of setup for special features like deleted scenes and BTS. I guess I could just label them as TV Shows or something... But that might get messy. Oh well.
I tried pretty hard, but that bourgeois charm was a little too discreet for me.
