Topic: Your other go-to podcasts...

For those lonely tuesday nights when you've already listened to your DIF for the week.  I'll start.

Re: Your other go-to podcasts...

Hollywood Saloon - The podcast is now defunct, but their archive is an absolute treasure trove for film fans.
Suffice it to say, I would say it's the best produced film podcast on the internet, and the closest you'll get to NPR quality programming (I'm talking careful editing, intercut music score, audio clips, director's commentary/interview segments). Check out something like their Art of Editing show, their Fury Road car chase show, or their Bond series.

Re: Your other go-to podcasts...

The ones that immediately come to mind are:

Giant Bombcast
Idle Thumbs
Writing Excuses
Penn's Sunday School
Kevin Pollak's Chat Show

While there are some other ones I occasionally listen to, these are the ones were I'll at least listen to any episode once.

Re: Your other go-to podcasts...

I can't get enough of Citation Needed, so it's sad that they only did 9 episodes. Each one is gold, though. It's a sketch-comedy podcast with all the skits based on entries at Citation Needed, a website which collects the most hilariously bad Wikipedia entries. As a bonus, many skits feature the cast of MST3K, as the creator of the site is a writer at Rifftrax.

How Did This Get Made?
The Flop House
The Empire Magazine Podcast
Mark Kermode Film Podacst

And various commentary podcasts off Zarban if the film interests me.

I have a number I regularly listen to:

This Week in Science
The Skeptics Guide to the Universe
Junk Food Dinner
Cinefantastique- the Bad Film episodes
Monster Talk
The Human Bible
The Skeptical Viewer - this one seems to have died, but check out old episodes which go over old Ghost Hunters episodes and conclude that one of the two guys is doing the faking.

Re: Your other go-to podcasts...

I dip in and out of podcasts and there are few I've not tired of the ones who are listed here above.
There are though a few constants:

This American Life
Dan Carlin's Hardcore History (The Mongol run is just amazing)
FXGuide
Mark Kermode Film Podcast
/Film
The Tobolowsky Files
Tank Riot

I used to listen to that ages ago when I had my old laptop but when that went so did all my saved bookmarks. I forgot the name of it and then eventually forgot about it all together. You just reminded me, thanks for that smile

Pretty much the only podcast I listen to on a semi regular basis is Mike and Tom Eat Snacks. And occasionally the Roosterteeth podcast.

Owen, thanks for inspiring me to get off my ass and check out Hollywood Babble-On. I live in LA, so I'm one of the lucky ones who get to know Ralph from the radio show first.

Low key and funny. I like it.

Thanks to those who referred to "How Did This Get Made?" I've just listened to a few episodes and have been really enjoying the podcast.

I second the recommendation for Dan Carlin's Hardcore History, the Genghis Khan and Roman Republic series especially (if you're a history buff).

Cool. I also reccommend The Flop House- http://www.flophousepodcast.com/

Two of the hosts are writers for The Daily Show and I think it's quite funny at times. Like HDTGM, it is released once a fortnight so there are actually not that many (started in '07 and they're currently at episode 114).
