I like it!

Re: The Art of Stedicam

Currently we have a godawful european music song contest going, and the Swedish contribution is being selected in a series of extremely longdrawn smaller national contests.

Basically, the only thing I enjoy is the camerawork, which is really top-notch, well-choreographed and the steadicam work is almost undestinguishable from a motion-controlled crane. Incredibly smooth, and whip-pans are insanely accurate.

Don't let the union see that. smile

Re: The Art of Stedicam

Yeah Mad Max, sorry forgot to add that to the post.

Cinematographer David Eggby filmed action sequences while strapped to Vigilanties President Terry Gibson. The bike they rode served double-duty, and sported one of the iconic hand-laid fairings.

Not sure I would ever be that dedicated to anything. Motorbikes generally unnerve me, not sure I would side-straddle one whilst holding a camera. Without a helmet...

That's what happens when you drive through a movie set.

European DPs are just as brave as Aussie ones.

03:25 - Andrzej Jaroszewicz running through real explosions (no opticals or CGI) with a handheld camera.

The movie is On the silver globe (a weird Polish sci-fi flick from the 1970s). It can be found on YouTube in its entirety (with English subtitles). Unions? Communist countries didn't need no stinkin' unions  roll

Re: The Art of Stedicam

Wasn't there some story from Terminator 2 where the cameraman refused to do a helicopter stunt where it flies under a bridge, so guess who had to say 'step aside, I'll do it myself, girls?' Jim 'big balls' Cameron.
