Topic: Every FCC Complaint against the Simpsons & Southpark from 2008-2012

Stumbled upon these and found them a quite entertaining read. Even if you feel the shows have declined or never cared for them in the first place, it's fascinating to see what some people have to say - as well as the intended age group many parents seem to think these shows are for.

Here's some examples. Things can range from parents feeling the content of the show is unfit for their 4 year old to standard "this offended me" claims to a homeless man convinced the show is mocking him.

Examples are in image form because the format of the PDF files make it incredibly time consuming to paste over.

Been giving me something to read when bored, so I thought I'd share, as I'm sure others could find enjoyment from this as well.

The one of the whale being blown up is based upon true events, so I am amused that the animated version was so offensive.

It's been a number of years since I watched the show -- was this really an episode? I can kind of see it passing as one of the Treehouse of Horror vignettes but it sounds more like Carrie's mom having a fever dream.

Is there any chance we can get some 97-99ish complaints for South Park? Back then it was a cultural phenomenon and far more in-your-face offensive than it is today. I'd love to hear some of the shit parents were writing to the FCC when it debuted.

In the same boat as you, but taking a quick drive-by through wikipedia none of this seems to have ever even remotely happened in an episode of the Simpsons.

Several complaints seem to be from completely imagined episodes of both shows.

I think they are describing two Treehouse of Horror vignettes from the same episode. It has been a while since I saw it but I think it is this-click for Wiki page

Furthest back I could find for either show.

As a bonus, I also found Family Guy complaints.

The Daily Show also has some interesting complaints and observations.

Some of these also have responses from the FCC, which are also interesting to read.

Re: Every FCC Complaint against the Simpsons & Southpark from 2008-2012

I don't understand why the FCC would even accept complaints about South Park. It only appears on cable channels, which are except from FCC control because they don't use public broadcast spectrum.

Warning: I'm probably rewriting this post as you read it.

They accept them, they just don't do anything with them except inform the sender that cable isn't their jurisdiction.

Re: Every FCC Complaint against the Simpsons & Southpark from 2008-2012

Like sending letters to Santa. It's easier just to accept them and throw them in a pile than try to explain to people not to send them.

I would now like a picture of the pile of complaints sent to the FCC about cable...

"Yeah, just file it over there. Try not to trip over it."

God loves you!
