Topic: Which Docs do you want covered on DOCUMENTALITY?

We've got a few episodes planned, plus something special for Comic Con, but as I sit here trying to assemble a list of films to cover, I want you guys to help wittle it down.  I'll do the pairing, but tell me, of this list, which ones you'd be interested in hearing about.

DOGTOWN AND Z BOYS
CUTIE AND THE BOXER
MITT
GOOD OLD FREIDA
ENRON: SMARTEST GUYS IN THE ROOM
AFTER PORN ENDS
CROPSEY
MARWENCOL
SONS OF PERDITION
DIRTY WARS
A BAND CALLED DEATH
TABLOID
FAT, SICK, AND NEARLY DEAD
EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP
ROOM 237
MORTIFIED

I'm also planning an all sports episode and an all music doc episode whee we'll cover quite a few in each genre.  Anyway, if there's ones you love, or ones you hate, just let me know.

You should add to the first post all the docs you have already covered.

Did you ever do Jesus Camp (2006)?
That one stuck with me for a long time.

From that list, I'll pick:

DOGTOWN AND Z BOYS
ENRON: SMARTEST GUYS IN THE ROOM
AFTER PORN ENDS
A BAND CALLED DEATH
EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP
ROOM 237

I'm not much of a sports guy, so I can't really think of many sports-related docs. For music though, I'm particularly fond of all of these:

Some Kind of Monster, Anvil: The Story of Anvil, The Decline of Western Civilisation Part 2: The Metal Years, The Filth & The Fury.

I tried watching Room 237.

I felt like I was getting trolled or something.

Re: Which Docs do you want covered on DOCUMENTALITY?

It doesn't go into release until next week, but I can already recommend LIFE ITSELF, the Roger Ebert doc.

Ebert was a major champion of the doc Hoop Dreams when it came out years ago - as a result the director of Hoop Dreams got total access to tell the story of Ebert's life, including the final days of it.

I've seen the movie already and thought it was great.  One warning, his mind was as sharp as ever, but in his final days Ebert looked like something out of a horror movie, and the doc certainly deserves the use of the word "unflinching".   But after the initial shock you just kinda get used to the idea that the jawless guy with the robot voice is still Roger.

Anyway, go see it, I says.  One thumb up.

That is the interesting thing. By telling all half dozen or so theories, instead on focusing on one,it becomes obvious NONE of them are probably true. Was this the intent? Who knows. It's the result, in any case.

I would definitely vote for FAT, SICK AND NEARLY DEAD.

Also, I'd add to the list YOUNG AT HEART.

Free to Play!

Mostly because I want the eSports discussion that inevitably results.

A few I added on there because I think they're awful.  The doc love Fest has to end at some point.

Beyond The Mat

Book it, unlike Dennis Stamp.

I wouldn't mind doing BTM.  It's a good example of salvaging a film in The edit.

This would kind of be an interesting experiment. A documentary on film criticism being analyzed:

Good call. It's still watchable on Hulu, too.

I'll check it out but most times I shy away from docs about movies.  I feel like most people here would check those out first.

I don't know what you would say about it (about as good a reason as any for me to listen ^_^), but how about The Panama Deception? I still don't know how much of what it claimed the US lied about with regard to the invasion of Panama is true, but from memory it's a case of filmmakers getting a bit carried away with accepting "evidence". The claim the US was using laser weapons, for example, I think we can now discount smile

We could do Sans Soleil along with another pseudo doc, or just do a pseudo doc rock block.

My heart will stop beating before I concede that there's anything pseudo about it.
