Topic: Uncomposed #4 — Horror Scores

SCARY MUSIC

I love the sound effects around 7:00. I can't take credit for it — that's just what got recorded when plugging in the mics, and all I did edit-wise was leave it there. But it sounds super Radiolab-y.

Remember the end of Gums 2? In which the shark lived because it couldn't bite through a power cable?

Re: Uncomposed #4 — Horror Scores

This seems like as good a time as ever to plug the soundtrack for a horror film I was involved in.

Oh man. Do we have our own AWildSketchAppeared now?

Another good one, lads! Episodes of Uncomposed always make me wish I had my guitar to hand so I can eff around and experiment with the stuff you're talking about big_smile

Disclaimer: if you dislike the tone of a post I make, re-read it in a North/East London accent until it sounds sufficiently playful smile

You do a podcast talking about using dissonance to change a normal melody creepy, and Marvel immediately proves you right with that Avengers trailer.

When I was growing up in the '80s, one of my favourite weekly UK comics was one called Buster. In this comic was a shark called Gums who wore false teeth so people would still be scared of him. The strip started off in another comic called Monster Fun in 1976, before that publication merged with Buster.

Re: Uncomposed #4 — Horror Scores

I swear I didn't know there was already a GUMS in existence! I like the idea that he's Baby Bruce better.

Not a film score, but this old PS2 game Drakengard has a pretty freaky score. Most of the game is running around and cutting down armies of monsters or possessed guards or flying around on a dragon.

Re: Uncomposed #4 — Horror Scores

Teague, I was really surprised when you looked up Saw's composer and didn't recognize his name immediately. Charlie Clouser played with Nine Inch Nails for several years and is responsible for a lot of amazing NIN remixes.
