I love it. Maggot and Doc Sub, start threads in the off topic board stating the rules of the game and start it off.

Zarban, I like the idea of yours if it's something along the lines of Doc Sub's system, where someone posts a bad movie, and the person below responds with a better plot and lists a new bad movie for the next person. If you wanna go with that, thread-ify yourself. If not, ESPLAIN, LUCY

I like that idea, actually.

Weird, I feel the opposite generally in response to both of y'all.

For the most part, when an off topic conversation is happening, it's our way of keeping a conversation going when we don't have anything to say about the movie at that particular point.

There's always like sixty unregistered folks lurking, and over the course of an average day about thirty registered users will hop on the forum to see what's new. Over the course of a week, about seventy different registered folks will have checked the forum.

I think it'd be fun if we had some games or contests or something, just to further distract us from our various  employments. Other stuff to do, in addition to discussion-of-DIF-and-also-everything-else.

Anyone know any fun forum games, or ideas for group activities we could try out? (I'm not a fan of Mafia, personally, but I'm not opposed.) Maybe group stories or something equally lame.

This and Source Code will be a bit glitchy. Sorry about that, we've taken measures to (hopefully) ensure it never happens again.

It's really not too bad, it passes after a few moments.

I wanted to bring that up, especially because of your comments in the chat, which didn't go unnoticed. (That all sounds more ominous than I mean, I'm just saying I wanted to hash that out with you because I was a seein' what you were a sayin.')

I might have the wrong brain in my head for what we should call a commentary, but they've never really been...commentary-commentaries, in my mind, they've never been truly meant to be listened along with the movie. At least not for a while, not since the early teen episodes, where we learned nobody actually did that. It's been conversation on a theme - the movie of the week - and usually tangents on that theme as well. So when we go off on a conversation about what Planet Terror is and how it succeeds, and what Death Proof is and how it does or doesn't, that seems to me just as interesting and related, and not to mention semi-required context building for other comments we'll make about the movie itself.

Now, if this was a commentary-commentary, that kind of thing would be ridiculous, but as the show is almost always a podcast for 99% of the audience, it works for me and I let it go that way if the tangent is interesting. Theory talk, abstract talk, what IS Planet Terror DOING, and what else has done that.

I guess me question is...no? Not this? In your opinion?

Thanks, guys. I was worried about the reception to the song, but people seem okay with it. I recorded a lil video of it tonight.

This is old news. I edited the New Years speech last year with YouTube's editor.

Maybe they just took it out of beta or something.

Love.

Well, you tell us. I figure we put the first couple in the DIF feed so everyone knows about it, and then give it its own. (But that's because I'm not sure the average DIF subscriber would want to have off-topic talk radio forced upon them.)

So, holy crap, we're trying a thing. We're doing an entirely different, separate show, called The Intermission. The idea is that it's a thirty minute non-commentary conversation about whatever we want to talk about, to take place between commentaries, hence the title.

It'd be interesting if that paragraph needed to be longer to explain the thing, but really, that's it. There will be homepage integration once the new site goes live, but for now, Holden has built a temporary page to house the episodes.

With that said, enjoy the first episode of The Intermission.
