Here's a protest sign duo I'd like to see: guy with sign "Cake or Death" next to guy with sign "The cake is a lie."

And a guy behind him with a sign "I'll have the chicken then'.

Anyway. Anyone have theories on this?

All movies have issues, mistakes, plot holes etc. in them. It's the job of the story and the way the story is portrayed to make me not care about them. I've mentioned in another thread that my favourite movie of all time is The Blues Brothers. In BB there's a magical car that does backflips. Do I care? Hell no. Transformers is a different kind of movie. There is no story but the movie is about giant robots and explosions so the plot doesn't matter.

TDKR is supposed to be all about the story. That's why you don't care about epic explosions and visual effects but focus on the little details. The story is the hero. Once your brain get switched from 'sit back and enjoy' into 'this ain't right' mode thre's no turning back. There isn't much else to hold on to and the movie becomes a mediocre action flick.

I'm not sure Conroy would be right for this particular Batman, though. Not that I wouldn't want to hear his take on it smile

Kevin is in his late 50's, I'm sure older Batman wouldn't be too hard for him. I liked his take on the old Bruce Wayne in Batman Beyond and that was over 10 years ago.

The Dark Night Returns  roll

Let's hope they won't screw this up. Also, no Kevin Conroy sad

The Blues Brothers is my favourite movie of all time. If watching the same movie over and over again would extend your lifetime by a few hours I would've achieved immortality years ago.

Speak for yourself. I'm an Atheist, but I'd drag out the guns to defend the local churches.

I meant the religion bit. I've got nothing against architecture.

I would hazard against this for now. If you're JUST starting out it's really just a recipe for some rather unhappy people all round.

Not really. As long as you're clear about what your level is then everything should be fine. Look for struggling beginners that are asking for help and say 'hey, I'm pretty new at this too but I'm willing to help' and take it from there.

That Youtube distribution model is horrible, it might be ok if you are a video blog series (or Let's Play), but it handicaps creative works since you either have to chop up your narrative or you have to make truncated works suitable for the ADHD crowd. All for a pittance.

It's just not that profitable.

Not exactly. Guys from Sync tried to do that and they're failing miserably. They release a 3-5min episode every month and everyone complains that it's too short and not worth waiting for.  VGHS on the other hand with its 15min every week schedule racked up millions of views per episode in a matter of days.

People want stuff and they want it NOW. If you can make it on time you don't have to make it super short.

A functional time machine would have to move through time, not just pop from destination to destination. The machine would obey physical laws as it moves.Meaning that the machine would be present constantly, while time travelling.

Well...no. We don't know whether the laws of physics make time travel possible or not. And even if they didn't and someone managed to build a working time machine anyway it would only mean that our laws need some more work. 'Popping' from place to place is the only way to go. Otherwise you just sit in a box for 50 years while moving backwards through time and by the time you reach 1962 you're a skeleton.  Because the whole universe is moving it would be theoretically easier to pinpoint the location of earth in spacetime. If the sun was static then every 365 days the earth would reset it's position.  But because our galaxy, the sun and earth travel through space at hundreds of km/s earth gets a specific and unique set of coordinates for each point in time. So all you have to do is to figure out how to calculate point A (departure) and B (destination) and jump between them in an instant.

Well, maybe they could do like they did in the "Man for all Seasons" book, where a kid asks Superman where he got his costume.

Superman: "My mom made it for me"

Ok, but if that's the case then his costume can't look like something made in a lab with super future nasa space technology.

I honestly couldn't tell. Dave has been here since 2009 so I assumed he has listened to more than one commentary. And since Geekza has been mentioned more than once on the show, in the about section and the whole archive is hosted on the DIF site it isn't a stretch to think that he should've at least heard about it.

Next time I'll just drop the link wink

This is the number one reason why time travel would never work, even if it was totally possible to do it. You back in time 50 years and you pop into existence 50 years ago in the vacuum of space and you can't even tell which of those dots is our sun. Then most of you comes out of your mouth and anus and you die.

That's why you have to use math power and compensate for that shit. The time machine would have to move in time AND space. I'm pretty sure that if you could crack the time travel bit the other one would be a breeze. That's if we're talking about the DeLoraen style of travelling. smile

It's like Spiderman all over agian...

Since this is a reboot telling his origin story (another one, woooo) why not ditch the classic costume altogether and make him run around in a DIY outfit throughout the movie. It would get torn and damaged as he goes along (because it's made of regular fabric) and he'd have to fix it himself all the time. Then at the end and after the epic battle the whole thing gets shredded beyond repair. After that someone else offers to make a new costume for him using super-turbo-nano-space-alien fabric so he can become the Superman we all know and love. Then a quick shot of him in his superclothes looking down on metropolis and boom, credits.
