He is actually genuinely awesome, despite the bad choices in movies he makes. He's not the only one though, obviously, and I think he is doing much better than Sly or Arnie. He was always cool and remains so. I first saw Bruce in Moonlighting and he was as cool as fuck even back then-

Nah, if Riggs had died at the end of LW2 as originally planned, Chris Rock wouldn't have been in the running. It would probably have been another white dude at the end of the 80s/early 90s anyway, more likely. Also, Rock was never a possible replacement in LW4, he did fuck all, action-wise.

To be honest, that would be an ending that would return the series to its roots - although it should have been maybe the third installment, before McClane became a full-on cartoon character.
Could have been a hell of a movie to have the original McClane - the one that could actually get hurt - go up against a foe and (presumably) win, but get mortally wounded in the process and croak at the end.
Of course in Franchise-World where we live, this would never ever happen. Interesting to think about, though.
Yup, I hate to say it as I love (original) McClane but they should have killed him off at the end of 3. They planned on killing Martin Riggs at the end of every Lethal Weapon sequel but that never worked out. It would have been better if they kept the original planned ending of LW2 and have him die although, they'd probably just team Murtaugh up with someone else.....

Yeah, they showed live performances of it in cinemas throughout the UK. I wanted to see it but sadly couldn't. Its not usually my sort of thing but the fact it was Boyle and that the actors shared the role from night to night made me want to see it twice.

I agree with the above post. A lot.
I think the way Stallone slips back into the Rocky persona proves he's an underrated actor. Watch both films back to back, they are very different performances.

That's because it wasn't really designed to be in HD it is mostly just alternate takes and as you say, a lot of ADR swear words. I can't really watch the unrated cut and look past the fact that it was just a cynical cash grab by Fox.

He's always had a daughter, though, and a son, they're in the first film. Anyway, I didn't relate to him as much as I did in the first film. He was a bit unsure of Argyle in the first film but he didn't out-and-out insult him or treat him like shit like he does with Matt in 4. He was a nice guy in the early films and just a git in the fourth.

Ah, you see that logic would be flawless if all the films happened in the span of a few years but there was over a decade between the events of three and four. I agree that there would be some degree of cockiness but if McClane has been having a nice quiet trouble free life for 12 years I still think there'd be some fear or vulnerability there.
I don't dislike the fourth film by the way, I still had fun with some of it

Yup, that's what I've been saying. He needs to be vulnerable, he was close to giving up at the end of the first film and he was distraught when he failed to save that plane in the second. By the fourth film he was indestructible and didn't seem to give a shit. He used to be a likeable slightly insecure dude but now Willis plays him as a cocky, grumpy old bastard. I agree with you about the 'implausible action sequences' and the face off with the jet in 4 was beyond ridiculous.
