Just finished the '82 version of TRON. Had to watch it after seeing that badass trailer for 'legacy' coming this winter. Even checked out the commentary by the Director and visual effects guys. Glad to see the original director and actors are coming back. I have to say, I've listened to hundreds of commentaries and read dozens of books on behind the scenes movie making, and I seriously need the Cliff-Notes version to how this flick was made. I'm submitting this gem for the DIF teatment. I know that previous commentaries have mentioned effects "AT' and "BT" for after and before TRON. School the minions DIFers. Thanks.
Additionally, I was at the "Mist" Comic-con panel in '07. Also attended by the Amazin' Stokes. And his response to the Punisher question scared me away from asking about "*61." If he said anything disparaging about the Mick...my dad may in fact have died right there in Room 20, haha.
listening to the Mist commentary, something really rang true to me. When Teague (or dorkman) talked about the genuine nature of Darabont and how he absorbs the talent of everyone on the set, from pa to movie star. "Let me be your friend!"
I had the same moment at the end of the Green Mile commentary. First, he gives some insight into the commentating business. He recorded his over 5 months of studio sessions! in addition, he mentioned how "holes" are filled in out of sequence. fascinating stuff. But when he begins talking with the producer, emily, you really feel that he can get along with anybody along the production line. Please mr. darabont.. "let me be your friend!"

A movie that was much hyped at the time. It had some great moments and only came out in 2005. I think peter jackson's King Kong is never really spoken of in terms of movies in the last decade.
Being John Malkovich. Has there ever been a movie where puppeteering plays a bigger role? This seems to be in The amazin' stokes wheelhouse.
just finished the Die hard commentary. Bruce willis in the elvator shaft reminded me of something. "Elevator Action- The Movie!" Actually it reminded me of Emilio Estevez biting it in the Mission Impossible remake from 1996. i would love the DIFers to address this De Palma film. I sensed outrage in previous podcasts about killing characters we love. How would you feel when the entire team is wiped out in the first 10 minutes. In addition, any musings about the 5 feet 2 inch pile o' batpoo that is cruise would be swell. keep em' Coming!
yes! The 1988 Blob commentary is a no brainer. Trey Stokes and Frank Darabont are my peanut butter and ritalin-laced jelly. I met Darabont at Comic-con and he signed my "Shawshank" script. He wrote "To all good things...Frank." A sweet call back to his epic movie and one of my most prized possesions. So please...give me some Frederick J. Dukes!
That'd be 'the Blob'
Just finished the ID4th special. Great stuff as usual! Gotta memorize Pullman's speech for future impromptu speeches.
For a movie suggestion, I'd really like to nominate "The Monster Squad."
This '87 film really holds up to repeat views, has some special effects from Stan Winston, and displays the quotable lines one would expect from Shane Black.
There are some genuine frights to be had. At least it seemed scary when I was 7.
Thanks to Zarban.com for leading me to the Down in Front Crew. Many of the other fan chats were inane. usually some kid getting plastered while watching 80s comedies. I'm popping in my Gremlins DVD tonight and almost a quarter thru the commentary collection. Keep em' Coming Fronters. And thanks again,
Another suggestion: Toy Soldiers with Sean Astin. Why so rewatchable? Is David Koepp a brilliant screenwriter? or is it Wil Wheaton with an AK?
Boy. I am an instant fan of the Down in Front crew. Great insight and laughs every time. I've rewatched all my favorite movies with these wonderful new tracks. I have heard the crew mention "Last Action hero" in the past. I think this movie warrants a second look. It serves as a great lesson to screenwriters and satirists everywhere. So..."Last Action Hero" Please.
And, if there is time...Gremlins 2: The New batch.
