I don't think it quite carries over my meaning. I love Murdock and his attitude, as well as the fact that he is willing to put himself in harms way, and get hurt really badly but still does it.

Oh god, the second episode. Just how completely wrecked he was the entire way through it, and how destroyed and exhausted he was by the end of it, and then that fucking fight to cap it off. just to save that one kid. At the end of that episode I knew this show knew what it was doing. Absolutely fantastic.

I have a whole thing I want to write up for daredevil, but I'll say I have never seen the MCU do ANYTHING even remotely as character oriented as Daredevil. Everything about this series is 100% about the characters and what's happening to them, and what they are doing. The "super" aspect of this "superhero" show, is almost ancillary, most of the time you forget that there are superpowers involved. It's just a story about these people trying to make it fucking work. Even when Matt is Daredevil, he's not invulnerable, he's not some demigod, he's just a guy trying to figure out what's right, and trying to make the world a bit better. And getting the ever living shit beat out of him along the way.

Daredevil also has easily the most rounded villain of the MCU. Fisk feels exactly as human and well rounded as every other character in this show. He just happens to be the bad guy.

Daredevil really really hit me hard. It's unlike anything I've seen from the Superhero thing up to now. And honestly kinda went a lot further than I thought they could with the genre.

Tech, I enjoyed reading that infinitely more than I would ever enjoy watching or reading anything 50 Shades.

So for that, I thank you, and applaud you. That was a magnificent display of curb stomping.

So, still figuring out the specifics of getting a chrome window to record properly. And apparently OBS decided that instead of using my nice fancy expensive mic for my audio, it would use the shitty webcam mic, so my audio is jacked in this one, apologies.

Shadow, are you planning on archiving the video for those who are trying to keep up (read: for Teague)?

I wasn't planning on recording the character creation stuff, but if you guys want me too I can post an unlisted version so you guys can see what all we did.

And Teague; absolutely what Boter said. The first time I got introduced to most of this stuff I went in totally blind. (I got through character creation...kinda... and then the group fell apart. iyc.) The rest I've just picked up hanging out on the sidelines, and watching stuff like Tabletop Time and Critical Role.

Basically we're reading through the ruleset to get an understanding of how this particular system works. (Ruleset pdf is posted on the previous page, if you wanna give it a read). So for example this particular uses strictly D6's for all of it's checks. So if I need to say...do a barrel roll... the rules will tell me how many dice I get to use and how many passes I need to successfully do it. Mutliply that times, every skill check you can probably think of.

Personally I'm also trying to get through as much of the world building stuff so I have a good understanding of the universe going in.

And then I am going through the character creation steps to get an understanding of what I can do, how it's set up, what kinds of characters I could make, what sorts of skills are available, how the magic works, etc etc. And then I've started developing a concept for my character (In my case, a parkour sniper that can do kind of some magic stuff) and starting to work on a backstory.

So...lots of reading basically. Lots and lots of reading.

Will we be creating characters on Monday?

As far as I know that's the plan. I'm walking through things right now, getting a rough idea down that we can go through and fix and finalize tomorrow.

Plus we'll probably end up doing a bunch of random stuff, I doubt we'll be ready to go after tomorrow though. Considering we'll be down at least one person for sure. *glares at Fire*

Saniss, bringing the real talk.

Sure, but if we're going that way, technically creations, reviews,  and pitches can all fit in off-topic.

You visit the reviews section way less because no one posts in the reviews section.

Well just speaking selfishly, I'd love to have a separate section for the movie club. A) so the posts don't keep getting lost, and B) It would just help get some eyes on it, instead of being hidden in the off-topic section.

That said, I do really like the idea of having subforums for these various sorts of projects. It's always struck me as weird that the FIYH only really has 4-5 sections. I think the most logical way to do it, would be to create a separate section (Ala, off-topic, episodes) on the main page for "Community Projects" or something like that, and then within that have various sub forums and threads for things like the Movie Club or song projects, or fanfilms, or Road Trips, or what have you. Anything that involves community coordination and communication basically.

Cause I'm sure it would be nice for, say, Zarban's project to have a thread specifically just for VFX communication, or edit communication, without creating 16 different threads in off-topic.

And then keep the off-topic section generally like it is now, (not cluttered up with subforums), cause I think that's been working out well for us.

So upon consideration of the chatroom, we're going to extend the movie schedule to every two weeks. Hopefully this'll give people more of a chance to watch and comment.

So next movie will be picked on April 29th.

Okay cool. My major concern honestly was the world building stuff, just getting a sense of what's going on so I'm not walking in entirely blind. So I'll do some reading this weekend.

For week 4, use the template BBCode in the first post of this thread. Reference any of the other suggestions in this thread for examples.

For week 5, do the same thing, but next week when submissions open for week 5.

And don't forget to watch the movie and participate in the discussions smile

Good point. How much pre-reading would you suggest Shadow for the universe and all that kind of stuff?

I really enjoyed this, I'll do a longer write up in a day or two once things are processed.

But first impressions... I'm not gonna say I didn't enjoy watching Dane Cook get the shit beat out of him...but I kinda enjoyed watching Dane Cook get the shit beat out of him. tongue Honestly though I was kinda like, ehhh okay Dane Cook, this might be bad. But he surprised me. He was actually pretty good. Granted he wasn't doing any Dane Cookisms so that helped.

Otherwise, this really felt like where I feel Dexter should have gone after the first couple seasons. It's got that sort of surreal dark look into the mind of a serial killer. They both have similar sort of MO's and reasons for doing what they do. Unfortunately Dexter went off to become Days Of Our Lives with that one guy who kills somebody every 10 episodes and then feels really bad about it. But hey, can't win em all.

Magic's good.

Some questions for the group:

How do we want to organize? Just keep everything on here or set up a group email/skype thing?
Dice, do we want to do irl dice rolls or keep everything virtual. I think I'd kinda like to do irl dice, but I am currently a person of a diceless disposition so what kind of dice does Shadowrun use primarily?

And then just for me personally, I'm off all day monday, so as long as it isn't the middle of the night for me, I can be there. And I'll check with everyone again on monday, but recording? How do people feel?

(96 replies, posted in Movie Stuff)

Yeah, I was kinda thinking that each week would be it's own contained selection pool if that makes sense.

So like I have to do is say, choose a random number between 11 and 16 or whatever, to choose the new movie.

In terms of what I NEED? I have no clue, this is being made up as I go along.
