Subtle.
It was the government, man. WAKE UP SHEEPLE.
Nailed it. Thanks, Obama.
Hey, bonus for the Young Adult reference there.
Anyway, THAT makes sense to me, but the issue of whether to continue multiple podcasts with discrete feeds and brands is a Teague/Holden thing. I got no problem with a hypothetical "Welcome to Teague's Castle of Chat: {subhead} Movie Blather!" separate podcast existing someday. Right now we're just looking to pin down the uber-name, which shouldn't be movie-commentary-specific.
EDIT: I didn't know whether Intermission and DiF were separate feeds or not - again, that's Teague/Holden witchcraft and I take no part in it. However, now that we have this opportunity to rebrand, it's also a chance to reverse the hierarchy. Formerly a movie commentary podcast with a sub-brand that talks about other media-related things, we're looking to be a podcast about media-related things that occasionally does commentaries.
The commentaries are one podcast, and the Intermission is a different podcast.
As far as how it gets catalogued on your movie commentary site, sure. But not anywhere else that I'm aware of.
So branding is exactly why I think "movie commentary" shouldn't be part of the name, since the podcast stopped being just that some time ago.
there shall be no polling!
...
That said, I am interested - just out of curiosity - which ones people like the most. There's certainly some useful data to be gathered there.
ANYway. So many good suggestions. Good work, hivemind.
A year or so ago, the podcast stopped being just movie commentaries, so I don't think we should put "movie commentaries" in the official name.
The Back Row works. It's still Down in Front, we just changed seats.
Someone suggested We'll Fix It In Post, or maybe some variation (Fixing It In Post, whatever). That's actually quite good (if that name is available) at describing what we do, and also what we DO. It definitely says "movie-based", and it's a valid title for both the commentaries and pretty much every Intermission we've done, too.
On that note, What's Wrong With This Picture? is also growing on me.
If Shark Brain is a science podcast and The Back Row is about racism, then Press Play is obviously for gamers and Fridge Logic is clearly a podcast about healthy eating.
My current fave: Fix It In Post.
Hmm. Screaming Podcast of Shit...
Nah, that's gotta be trademarked already.
Okay, to be honest I do like Movie Repairmen.
OMG
Surrogates.
I... I... think I love it.
Okay, now we got ourselves a ball game!
Stokes 'n Folks. Great plan. Whoever cast Richard Harris as Dumbledore would approve.
DIF - Dialogues Involving Film
or
Downin' Front
Excellent suggestions, we went there ourselves as well. However, variations on the current name and acronym are not an option.
My first suggestion was actually The Teague Show, but it was vetoed.
Don't hear you proposin' nothin'.
Much less having Muppet-based art to back it up.
I have some, but not total, support for my proposed new show name:
Shark Brain
Who's with me?
A remembrance of Roger by Alan Zweibel, author of North (the movie that Roger famously hate hate hate hate hated).
Possible movie suggestions for DIF this year:

"The Scary Movie franchise has spent the past decade reminding people that things exist, and then having those things fart and bonk their heads and confusing that with knee-sleeping wizardry."
Okay, that's beautiful. Ebert may be gone, but others are ready to pick up the torch. Yay!
The Romans had theater too, full of fake death and spectacle but everyone knew that was artificial.
It's professional sports that's the modern equivalent of gladiatorial games, it's just that we're "civilized" now so we don't require the ritual combat to end in actual death.
But really, that's a bit hypocritical - because when someone does die in a sport, we get ALL up in that. Or even when someone just snaps their leg in half - boy, did Twitter go batshit over that one a couple days ago. Gore? Lemme see!
And District 12 mines coal - already a major industry in the 19th century, and one that still fuels much of our world today. Some of our real-world Appalachian coal miners don't live that much differently than the fictional District 12 folk in the movie as it is - and that's without a fictional dictatorship intentionally keeping them enslaved.
oh, correction: Roeper reviewed GI Joe on Ebert's site. Ebert's last review really was The Host.
/goddammitsomuch
Damn, and he'd just announced his semi-retirement yesterday. I wonder if he was more ill than he let on, or if stepping down from being a full-time reviewer just triggered the "I'm done here" instinct.
He said he was looking forward to only reviewing movies he wanted to see.... instead, the guy's last reviews were for GI Joe and the goddam Host. Truly, he died for our sins.
It's really been interesting finding out (retroactively) which projects Unca George apparently was keeping afloat because he liked them, vs projects that actually made sense. Now that Disney has control, they're clearing the dead brush as fast as they can.
3-D rereleases? Nah, that's a money-loser - gone.
Clone Wars? Five years is plenty, we can syndicate that. Done.
Star Wars Detours - George thinks you're a hoot, Seth. But not one other human on the planet thought that teaser was funny. Clean out your desk.
LucasArts - Great once, hasn't had a hit in years. Sayonara.
I wonder how many other money sinkholes will get filled before the purge is over. Not ILM surely - they'll keep ILM to make Star Wars movies, at least for now. But any other division better be making bank, 'cause the bean counters are on the march.
I think we stumbled on the right answer in our commentary - not just a more fitting ending for that story, but as a sequel starter as well.
First, Noomi "my silly ideas got everyone killed" gets crushed and Charlize, the power-hungry ice queen survives.
Then Charlize, with her hated robo-head pseudo-brother, takes off in an alien ship full of death and daddy issues, headed back to Earth.
There's yer gorram sequel.
Yesterday at the Supreme Court...
So much win.
