I disagree with the whole premise that something is boring or not by what year it comes out.  I think boring is a personal and highly subjective metric.  I find Transformers 2 far more boring than any of the Godfathers (except 3).

I have repeatedly went to bat for Godfather, which surprisingly doesn't get a lot of love from the crew, outside of Trey and I.

I want to make clear I am not a fan of Spider Man as a character.  I rarely read his books (same with Supes) but with the exception of 3, I quite like Spidey on film.  Iron Man has had a way better translation, though.

I enjoyed Iron Man 2 a great deal.  I never understood the hate for that.  But then again I love Spider Man 2.

There are tons of production companies that still use Avid.  The Assistant Editor talent pool is rich here, but surprisingly fewer AE's know Avid that well.  If you're staying near by, I could give you a refresher course on FCP and tell you what you would need to know as an AE or cutter.  I might have some work I'd be able to kick you down at my company, but nothing concrete yet.

Thank you everyone.  We've already been to the hospital with false labor, so its just a matter of days now.

HA!

We said we'd probably end up doing it, but I don't think anyone committed to a time.  My wife is about to poop out our son, so I would miss it if it were now.

Boy, this thread took a turn.

1)  Without question, Yakima Kanute's climbing under a moving Stagecoach during "Stagecoach."  If you haven't seen it you're missing out.  Greatest there ever was.

2) Bullit, the car chase scene.  I count it as a stunt in the amount of drifting and jumping that McQueen performed himself.
'
3) Tony Jaa's Fire Legged flying knee from Ong Bak.

4)  The Man Who Would Be King, Joe Powell cuts an actual rope bridge and swings from it.  No trickery or gigging, just an actual rope bridge over an actual ravine.  Breathtaking.

5)  Tony Jaa doing another flying knee, this time onto a woman hanging from a helicopter over Australia.

Next, top five albums you listened to in 2010.  Not that came out in, or you bought in, but just ones you listened to the most in 2010.

That stage play was directed by David Schwimmer.

And oh man do they....

Aside from the hamfisted love story, and out of nowhere patriotism in the end,  Caine Mutiny is a vastly underrated movie.  There's some real moral ambiguity going on and Fred McMurray shines.

My favorite Coen Brothers are Blood Simple and O Brother Where Art Thou.  I think O Brother in particular would make for a good DiF.

I recently suggested 24 Hour Party People because I think Teague would lose his mind for it once he sees it, as any good music nerd does.  It's absolutely insane, and it has to be to capture that period of time.

INDEED IT IS.

I Lurrrv The Field.  It is my single favorite San Diego pub and has a wickedly good beer selection and a plate of Shepperd's Pie that will actually make you part Irish.  I love lots of other eateries around there, but nothing beats a good Comic Con sloshing at The Field.

KARATE KID

I confuse Jerry Weintraub for Fred Weintraub.  Very, very different movie producing Jews.

I blame the editor for not making that clear.

Gotta correct myself on this one and I'm a bit red faced about it.  It was actually FRED Weintraub (no relation to Karate Kid's Jerry) that worked with Bruce Lee.

With that said, it wasn't so much that Fred screwed as much as it was Fred who was powerless to stop Bruce from getting screwed.  Long story short, Bruce pitched a show he developed called "The Warrior," to both Paramount and Warners, and Fred helped facilitate the pitch.  Not long after, a show called Kung Fu, starring David Carradine came on the air, and the characters backstory and old west setting were identical to what Bruce pitched.  Fred didn't have anything to do with that, but he a lot of people say he could have protected Bruce a bit more.  He went on to Produce Enter the Dragon, and my single favorite Blacksploitation film of all time, Black Belt Jones.

Teague hasn't listened to this commentary apparently because as Dorkman and I make clear, this isn't really a fighting movie.

I enjoyed it as well, clunkiness aside.  The Disc Wars was surprisingly innovative with how they did it, same with the light cycles.  I wanted more of those and less of the light jets.  I love the ideas they put forth with the idea of CLU being limited by the fact that he was programmed by Flynn of the past, not the present.  Surprisingly the performance I walked away most impressed from was Olivia Wilde's.  She brought a lot of nuance to a role that could have been a throaway.  And obviously, I adore the soundtrack.
