I was only joking about that whole sarcasm tag thing. As dorkman pointed out, my idea was really dumb.

Damn. Maybe we need some sort of 'I'm joking' tag doohicky........

I thought the last half hour of Chronicle was great. Although, who was supposed to have edited all of this together in order to make the film? Did someone steal all the cameras including the one that got lost underground?

I don't think it was a Cloverfield thing, where we are watching footage that has been edited after the fact. I saw it as the cameras being the conduit for the audience. We are watching everything as it happens, and cameras are our way into the world. It's all real-time.

Then again, we don't know how the cave-in happened, so maybe the sequel will have a different answer.

That just makes it all the more pointless and technically not 'found footage' as it was advertised. It could/should just have been a movie, the way they used the cameras was redundant.

+1 on Haywire "meh", but I do want to see Gina Carano kicking all the ass in more movies. Preferably ones that make sense.

She was great kicking ass but she needs a few acting lessons. Or at the very least someone to teach her better line-reading. I assume Soderbergh was too scared to direct her properly on her acting big_smile

Why is a sarcasm font needed?  There was no confusion or embarrassing situation.

This time...... big_smile

Last night, I watched Haywire and Chronicle. One was slightly 'meh', the other was better.

I thought the last half hour of Chronicle was great. Although, who was supposed to have edited all of this together in order to make the film? Did someone steal all the cameras including the one that got lost underground?

John Powell? He hasn't done anything that even touches Williams.

(Not saying Giacchino has either....)

Absolutely fantastic news. Let's hope it happens, I'd love to see it on Blu Ray smile

I have to correct something in the podcast that was my fault. In the chatroom, I said that My Sharona was released in April 1979 but that is when it was recorded. It was actually released in June '79 but that still means the film was set in that year. Especially as it is noted that his mum died in February 1979.

I had April '79 stored in my head but, obviously, that was because I remembered when the song was recorded, not released. Sorry.

Dante's Peak is better........

What?

I'm not defending them, I'm just wondering why anyone thought it would be good in the first place, thereby having expectations to disappoint.

Which you did explain...sorta, so thank you tongue

I thought the second one would be fun as I found the first one to be pretty good fun.

It's not a difficult concept to grasp big_smile

I don't hate both films. The first film is witty, charming and even sexy. The second film mistakes gore, potty humour and naked tits for all those things the first film has. I mean, this film has a lot of tits in it and yet it still fails to be sexy. How the fuck does it manage that? The only saving grace (sort of) is David Hasselhoff playing himself but even that gets boring fast. The outtakes in the end credits are funnier than the written content of the film.....

Oh, and why defend films you haven't even seen?  :@

Indeed, it is a popular username. There were a couple of variations of it on Empire, too.

I sincerely welcome you to the forums anyway smile

Yeah, it's pretty bad. And really fucking mean-spirited. That last scene over the credits, the one in black and white because they wouldn't get it past the censors if it was in colour, is horrible. Left a bad taste in my mouth if I'm being honest.

And yeah, probably the worst I've seen so far this year too.

Welcome,TechNoir.  Did you used to post on the Empire forums by any chance? smile

I just saw Piranha 3DD and wish I hadn't. I found it an unfunny unimaginative mess. And I quite enjoyed the first one, too, I thought it had wit and charm. This one had none of that, they just tried to offend people without having much point to it.

Oh, and earlier today I saw Safe House which was quite boring and dull. I'm not having a very good movie watching day.....

I haven't seen the film, so I couldn't comment. I was referring to the book and the Snow White story as seen in other films. If it has been changed in SWATH, then fair enough. smile

Here is the trailer for Robert Zemeckis' new film Flight. Just skip to the minute mark, John Goodman seems to have based his look on a certain DiFer. As usual, the trailer seems very spoiler-filled.

Maybe this is retcon, but I think of "fairest" as not being the prettiest (hottest, Charlize is clearly that), but the youngest, most virginal (the Queen has gone through a few guys so far right?), innocent. I know they mention "true beauty" or something like that, but couldn't that be more than just physical loks (beauty on the inside?)

Fair means pale-skinned, like a porcelain doll which many would consider to be 'beautiful'. So, it would actually make more sense if Emily Browning was cast as she looks like a doll. The reason she has pale skin is why Snow White is given that name in the book. She also has prominent red lips which, again, would make more sense if Browning was cast in a Snow White film smile
