Maybe that happens(I can't recall that one way, or the other)... But, I'm not suggesting that Capt. get the powers.
But, something more along the lines of "the sword in the stone" ! You know ? Only those worthy can even pick the thing up !?!
Just to show more of Cap.'s character being "true of heart/pure" /etc.....
And because of this, maybe the other characters see that this is one of Steve Rogers' greatest strengths, just like Erskine saw in him.

I think it's the Hammer that chooses the person. It chose Thor when he proved himself, so it stays with Thor. For it to allow itself to be picked up by anyone else would see the powers exchange hands. Sounds silly, I know, but hey- superhero movie. Besides, if Cap could just pick it up, I'd see a lot of cries of 'bullshit' from people. Even if it is to show Cap's strength as a human being. It was established that only 'he who is worthy' can pick it up and that happened, why complicate it by having someone else pick it up?

And Sesame Street, of course! How can I forget that especially after BDA posting that awesome photo above? I used to watch this a lot too-

I keep forgetting you are much younger than me. I grew up with Ghostbusters and Real Ghostbusters in the 80s. I think I watched The Muppet Show when it was first shown. I saw the last couple of seasons at least. I saw the first movie around then too, my mum likes to remind me I cried when I first saw that. My favourite film of all time is Back to the Future but I never really got into that until I was older, oddly enough. I remember watching Labyrinth recorded onto a betamax tape a lot of times when I was a kid.

Interesting fact everyone should know: All 120 episodes The Muppet Show were filmed in the UK.

The muppets are probably the closest thing I have to the Star Wars or Star Trek level of impact that a lot of people around here have. I can honestly say, I wouldn't be here or the man I am without the muppets.

Snap. I was never into Star Wars growing up, I was all about the Muppets. And Ghostbusters big_smile

And, yes, that image of Kermit and the photo of Henson is one of my favourites, it's both touching and awesome.

Well, it has been 22 years today since Jim Henson died. I remember being really upset when I found out, I cried at the time but not nearly as much as when I saw the tribute TV special where the rest of the Muppets find out the news but Kermit is nowhere to be seen. When he turns up at the end, though, I was gone. I was 13 years old but had been a fan of Henson's work for as long as I can remember. The Muppet Movie was one of my favourite films as a kid and The Muppet Show my favourite show. I collected toys and annuals and whatever comics I could get (Muppet Babies had one). I even loved Labyrinth. Anyway, I think this photo is appropriate-

He voiced less than a third of the Hulk, he was an element, a layer in all of the Hulk sound. As I understand it, it was a mix of Ruffalo, Ferrigno, and a couple of New Zealanders.

I don't care, I still think it was a nice little cameo that some people wouldn't be aware of. smile

I think Statham is a great actor who needs to take more roles where he's not kicking the crap out of people. He was really good in both The Bank Heist and Snatch and there was nary a fist fight in either of those two flicks. Not with him, at least. If he does have to kick the crap out of people, it should be in a movie that is less martial arts and more brawl.

Indeed. I forgot about The Bank Job, he was really good in that, he needs to do more stuff like that. I remembered things like Snatch and Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, I should have said he needs to get back to actual acting. It's easy to forget he didn't always do kicking and punching films as that is mostly what he's remembered for.

Another two films he doesn't do much fighting in (but still some) are Blitz and The Killer Elite. Blitz has very little fighting in it but it's such an unlikeable film and not really worthy of having The Stath as the lead. In Killer Elite, he has a good fight scene with Clive Owen that is more brawl than martial arts-

I went to the cinema and saw Safe today, the latest Jason Statham actioner. It was ok, quite enjoyable actually. Some great fight scenes (Statham can do this shit in his sleep by now) but some dodgy editing and a bad US accent by the big man dampened things a bit. I will say, though, there is a scene at the start where Jase shows a great bit of acting just by kneeling down. You expect him to take out everyone in the room that have just killed his wife but he just sits there as they taunt him. It's a wonderful turn that promises so much from him until it is evident as the film goes on that he is again just stuck in Staham-mode. The guy often shows signs of being a good actor but once he has to kick and punch all of that goes out the window. Just like some of the people he kicks and punches actually and it's a good job he kicks and punches so well. Oh, and the bit about the wife is not really a spoiler as it is right at the start. Oh, and  you never actually see the wife even when she's alive, which is an unusual and bold movie.

Next week.....I'm hoping to go see The Raid.......

Independence Day (I refuse to call it ID4; that doesn't make any damn sense) has slowly grown on me. I didn't get why my friends like it at the time, but it has a kind of trashy, goofy charm that also makes me kind of like Starship Troopers and RoboCop, altho RoboCop is more solid.

You see, I don't like Starship Troopers much either big_smile I get that it's a satire but the bad acting is just too out there for me. ID4 is just 'blah'.

Always loved Robocop, though. That's a much better satire than Starship Troopers, it's more subtle (surprising, I know).

I just don't like it, it's not a big deal big_smile

Nah never liked ID4. I think DiF like it for the most part, don't they? Can't remember, been a while since I listened to their comm of it.

I think I suggested it waaaaaaay back smile

But yeah, they should do more Carpenter. If they do Prince Of Darkness and In the Mouth Of Madness they would have completed his 'Apocalypse Trilogy'.

If I recall correctly, you hardly speak at all during the Avengers talk. You are all over the Thor commentary (I'd avoid that big_smile) and the chat in between but when it came time for you all to talk Avengers, you were quiet. It looked as though you fell asleep and it actually prompted cries of 'please check on Mike' from the chatroom. We were just glad when you did say something smile

Maybe I'm just weird, but I don't remember music when I come out of a movie. Like ever. The closest was maybe the beat in 2009 Star Trek going over the title after the Kelvin blows. But unless I actively seek out the score afterwards I could not tell you a thing about the music in X movie.

I do,I love scores, I often find good score can enhance my enjoyment of a movie. Many people don't notice it, though, my sister says I'm a freak big_smile

A lot of action movie these days have basically the same score. Silvestri's score to The Avengers is good, but nothing special, it has been a while since I've fell in love with a new score.  I do like the Soundgarden song.

Alan Tudyk on John Travolta's latest troubles- 'Everyone is suing John Travolta. What is the statute of limitations for the crime of "Look Who's Talking Now?"'

On other 'news', British shitrag of a newspaper, The Daily Mail have complied a list of what makes the 'perfect man'. Being the Mail, it's a lot of nonsense and going by the article and photos, the perfect man is white. Typical bloody Mail- http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/artic … -bill.html

And speaking of news, William Shatner will be hosting BBC panel show Have I Got News For You later this month. Shatner! That's some coup, it's usually British people not known outside the US that host it. Although, Damien Lewies (Homeland) was host a few weeks ago and Jeremy Clarkson was it last week.
