A Twilight double-feature?
All too easy.
BA DUM DUM DA DUM. BA DUM DUM DA DUM. Ba da daaaaaaaaaaa, da da duuuuuuuuuuum. Ba da daaaaaaaa, ba duh DAAAAA, DUUUUUH.
Indiana Jones.
Sorry, Shifty. It was Superman. Your turn!
Hint: John Williams
Bum ba BA, ba ba-ba-ba BA! Bum-bum bum ba BA, buh BA-ba buh BA buh! Bum ba BA ba, bum ba BA ba, bum ba BA-BA-BA-BA, bada bum bum bum bum.
That's probably a softball.
Teague: Yup, Harry Potter.
Shifty: Gremlins was my second guess!
Teague: Pirates?
Doo doo, doo-doo doooo, doo doooooooooo, doooooooooo, doo doo-doo dooooo, doo dooooooooooo.
It's Alien.
EDIT: Teague, IMDb is so confusing now. I think you were looking at his "Music Department" credits. His "Composer" credits are in the drop-down menu right below that.
At first, I didn't understand what Brian was getting at when he called the movie "objectively bad". Then I watched "The Host", and had similar feelings. I just don't see how anyone can disagree that it's a bad movie. I like some of the performances, but the plot is full of holes, absurd from start to finish.
I guess that's exactly how Brian saw Spider-Man 2. I'd never had that sort of experience with a film until I saw The Host. Maybe I need to rewatch Spider-Man 2. Brian, all is forgiven.
I'd probably enjoy Pulp Fiction a great deal if I watched it all the way through, in one piece. I've seen the whole thing, but only in chunks.
I would love someone to explain to me why I should hate Donnie Darko. Because I don't, and a lot of critics don't, but everyone else I know seems to take it for granted that, because I like movies, I must hate this one.
This is what I remember from AI.
- Talking teddy bear
- They leave him on the side of the road
- Jude Law is a robot gladiator or something
- ROBOT ALIENS.
No big deal. I'm just thrilled that it's finally being recorded!
Unfortunately, now that it's at 3, I don't think I'll be able to make it. Can't wait for the episode to come out, though!
As much as I loved The Social Network and like The King's Speech, I'm secretly hoping that, by some miracle, True Grit will run away with it.
This is the first time you guys have done the porn version of a film. I'll have to hunt down a copy...
Damn, you beat me to it.
That said, I had a mild panic attack when I saw this announcement.
I actually like that they're nominating animated films for Best Picture. The whole reason that the Best Animated category was created was to keep those films out of contention in the big category, which makes very little sense. It's like when people claim that animation is a genre, when it clearly isn't. Animation is a medium through which films can be made in lots of genres. So, I like that they're acknowledging that Toy Story 3 is just as good as the Best Picture nominees, and not just as good as the other animated films. Really, they should change that category to "Best Achievement in Animation". It would be much more relevant.
How do we feel?
*Cue post from someone about how none of it matters because the Oscars are irrelevant and the Academy is out of touch and also Nolan got snubbed for Best Director so fuck those guys*
There's always http://www.moviebodycounts.com but if we're talking specifically about innocent bystanders, I'd guess Star Wars would be at the top. An entire planet is destroyed. I guess Star Trek 2009 counts on the same grounds.
I have great memories of Rear Window, and yet I remember not liking it as I was watching it. Weird how those things happen.
Also, if you ever do film-school month, SEVEN SAMURAI. It's not just an innovative movie. It's also really entertaining. It's my all-time favorite movie, and not just in that douchey film-school way. I genuinely find it to be a film that I can watch over and over again, regardless of the incredible length.
Anyone else seen this movie 'Exam'? Go ahead and watch it, I'll wait.

It's not perfect, and the ending is a little muddled, but it's well-shot, well-paced, and well-plotted.
Congratulations to the Dotys! indeed.
That's a really great point. The only real answer that I can think of is "He was obsessed. Shit happens." I'd never considered that aspect of his character in retrospect before, good catch.
I remember liking it very much. But I didn't know a lot about movies then, and I haven't seen it since, so this should be interesting.
