Ah Mike! I'm so glad to hear from you!

This has genuinely made my week.

(Also, there must be some way of convincing Teague to do a couple podcasts...I won't let go just yet)

So I had a dream last night that I was doing a commentary with the boys for Star Wars Ep X. It was glorious. Though I think the movie actually sucked.
When I woke up and realised the impossibility of the situation (for more reasons than one), I was pretty heart broken.

Any chance of a 1 year later one-off reunion? Perhaps for The Force Awakens?! I miss you guys. I'll take Trey commentating QVC at this rate.

Sounds like a great idea! I'm cooped up in the library all week so I might be able to stop by at some point depending on timing.

Now I've also realised I can't fulfil my dream of being on a DIF commentary (even though I'm not really qualified). I really wanted to vent about a couple medical or comic book movies.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? I'll give it a go anyway....

Realised that I feel terrible that I didn't involve myself in the forums more (medical school is where free time goes to die), but if its going this way, I'll get on board.
First of all, I love you guys. What you guys have done is pretty monumental and you should feel proud. It sucks we won't hear any more commentaries (still waiting on DKR and ASM damn it!), but I appreciate everything. I encountered this show completely by chance and it has had such a big impact on my life. I can't imagine how many times I've listened to the prequel commentaries. It's amazing how had not clicked some retweet years ago, how different everything could be.
I will really miss it and I hope its actually just a hiatus.
Thank you Mike, Trey, Brian, Eddie, Ryan, Anthony and every one else.
But most important, thank you Teague, none of it would be possible without you.

Also, when I'm next in LA, let me buy you guys a beer.

This is really really upsetting. My thoughts go out to him and his family, but also to you guys. I can only imagine how tough the last day has been for Teague and the gang.

I'm a medical student so if you need any advice or terminology translation let me know. I'm sure you guys know medical people and the doctors will also be super helpful as well, but I'm here just in case.

Since the sequel is coming out in a couple weeks, it would be good to hear your take on 'The Amazing Spider-Man'.....I personally thought it was nearly as garbage as the others, but it's been pretty well received.

Also, we are well due for 'The Dark Knight Rises'. Come to think of it, I haven't heard you guys do a comic book movie for a while now.

I don't know what that means, but it's my new favorite saying.

Haha, it just means it's trash.
If you like that, we brits also use 'toilet/toilet sheet' as a noun.

But going back to the movie....yes. I would've preferred it if it was a more personal story on Matt Damon's part at least. He initially didn't even want to help the sick kid (who looked fine to me haha) and kind of eventually sacrifices himself for the greater good blah blah.

Saw it last night. Thought it was absolutely pants.

I was pretty excited for Elysium as the trailers made it look pretty decent, but they really dropped the ball here. The concept was great on paper, but no one did anything that made sense. You've guys pretty much have covered why it was awful, but I got to thinking what could've made this a great movie:

First of all, why do most movies nowadays tend to build up this interesting world and then try and tear it down in 90 minutes? This is why Dredd was such a success, it was just him trying to get on with his day. You don't need to do it about the rebooting of Elysium.

They could've had Matt Damon find out his kid is sick or something and then show him deal with that by way of getting to Elysium. Maybe have him get a hold of those shuttle launch codes that the poor people just happen to have in the beginning of the movie with not much explanation. You have Max trying to get his kid to a medi bay. That's all the premise of the movie should be. Along the lines of that Firefly episode perhaps (Ariel I think it was called?)
That would be a much tenser and  exciting sequence of events to watch, in my opinion.

Batman will come to Metropolis, he'll fight Superman for the 1st hour, during which neither will suffer any permanent damage or setbacks...because comic book franchise. Then they'll settle their differences and team up to stop Lex Luthor, and end with a post-credits tease for the Justice League movie.

As long as the reason for fighting is reasonable I don't mind that vague sequence of events. If it goes something like this then we may have a relatively decent movie on our hands:

Wayne turns up to Metropolis as a part of a 'rejuvenate and repair the city' pretence. Perhaps joins forces with the only other billionaire who resides there (Luthor). They get along smashingly, but Luthor has other ideas for Metropolis/Superman.
Wayne finds out Superman's identity and goes to talk to him and says 'This is not how we do things here. A lot of people died. Maybe you should leave. Zod could be just the beginning of more carnage'
Superman contemplates it but realises Luthor's plan at some point. Decides to stay and stop it.
Batman doesn't see the problem and there's confrontation etc.
Luthor takes down Supes with Kryponite (from space or some shit) , Batman has an 'uh oh spaghettios' moment and breaks him free/saves him/whatever.
They both save the day as a team.

After credits and finale set-up: Justice league introduction and Batman pocketing some of that Kryptonite as a contingency plan.

Supposedly the set-up for this movie is the complete destruction of Metropolis in MOS1. Wayne is gonna turn up and hold Superman responsible for this.

You guys haven't really done a Bond film yet.

My pick would definitely be Casino Royale. Personally, I think this is the best 007 movie.

(Also, I'm still hoping for Dark Knight Rises and Amazing Spider-Man soon)

Needs more midi-chlorians.

But seriously, Mike, this is awesome. Keeping Darth Maul till the second movie and having him go out the way he does is genius. It makes you think about how fucked Obi-Wan is when he needs to square up to Anakin.
Great job!

God damn it. Couldn't get any passes. The site kept crashing and timing out and after an hour and a half, informed me it was game over. Didn't get jack shit. Pretty saddening as I didn't even want a full 4 day pass and thought I had a good shot as it. Oh well  smile

Any non-pros going this year? Badges go on sale on Saturday.....I'll probably get a pass for the weekend since I'll be in the states at the time but flying from Austin. Don't even know if it's worth the full 4 days really since I'll be on my own. Just need to find a place to stay and I'm set!

Anyone making plans for the thing yet?

After the pretty sad news about Rhythm and Hues filling for Chapter 11, I would love to hear about your thoughts on the future of the movie industry. What you feel is going right/wrong. What needs to be done. Just a general outlook on the next stage of filmmaking in both a creative and business sense.

I wouldn't mind seeing a couple more superhero movies..................Amazing Spider-Man and Dark Knight Rises as a double bill?

Or the really crappy ones i.e. Batman and Robin or Daredevil

Reading 'The Silver Linings Playbook' by Matthew Quick.......great read so far

Recently, I read 'The Wolf Of Wall Street' by Jordan Belfort...........and also, John Grisham's 'Bleachers'

That's fine. I figured as much since you're all pro's. Though (I dunno if you'd even know) has there been an instance of Comic Con 'selling out' of badges?

And you know I will. That's the whole point of the trip. The promise of a possible look at Trey's ponytail in the flesh.

Nope. Just a lowly medical student.

Wasn't actually looking for help on that front. Should be straightforward enough to get badges when they go on general public sale. I think. I hope.

I know it's way too early for most people to be thinking about it, but since I don't actually live in the good old US of A (God save the Queen) I need to have plans set in motion and possibly finalised by New Year

Expect for the damn badges themselves. Turns out I missed pre-registration and can't buy them till early 2013.

Anyway, thoughts? and plans? and anything related to this?

it would be my first con so any tips would be cool as well i.e. where is best to stay/not stay.

I think Vaughn is a good possibility having just dropped out of First Class 2...

Great episode considering how short notice the thing is.

LucasFilms (or is it Disney now? or the mouse house?) said it won't be the Zahn trilogy will not be episode 7. IT WILL BE ORIGINAL CONTENT. Oh boy.

Also, Teague, do you reckon there's gonna be a more in depth discussion about episode 7 this weekend? Or is it more back to the usual schedule i.e. what's been planned?

Seeing as the 50th anniversary of Bond is this year how about we see a James Bond film or two before Skyfall comes out?
