Reading this review makes me glad I took the time and saw Star Trek Into Darkness rather than this one.

LOL

Just to be clear - I agree with the Doctor's review as far as content, just not as vehemently.   And even with all that, Elysium is still FAR better than ST:ID.

Re: Elysium review by Doctor Submarine [Full plot spoilers, unmarked]

Well, to each their own.

I think, as far as theme and storyline, Into Darkness resonates with me a little bit more than Elysium.

God loves you!

You're right. But I guess we'll see how this goes. Studios have major blockbusters planned for the next six years or so. Let's check back in 2020 and see where the movie industry is.

I was unaware that people liked this movie.

Re: Elysium review by Doctor Submarine [Full plot spoilers, unmarked]

For the record I think Oblivion kicks the shit out of this movie as far as scifi movies go, and is generally way better than people give it credit for. I genuinely think its residual Tom Cruise hate, if he wasn't the lead I think it'd be 20% higher on Rotten Tomatoes. Likewise, if Elysium wasn't directed by Blomkamp, I think it'd be 20% lower.

Re: Elysium review by Doctor Submarine [Full plot spoilers, unmarked]

I really enjoyed Elysium but I don't find myself disagreeing with the problems you mention. For me it was leaps and bounds better than Star Trek Into Darkness though.

Neither Kruger or Spiders actions make any character sense and the fact the film is named after a space station that we only see in the form of garden parties and matte paintings lets it down.
