Something interesting I read after the malariathon--apparently Tim Roth was their first choice for Snape, but he backed out to do Planet of the Apes. I can see him doing a pretty good Snape, though I don't know if his voice is right for the part.

Oh, now it's up. Cool.

The discussion of the first Dobby scene got me thinking. When this film was released, the most recent book in the series was Goblet of Fire. In that book, we get all the Winky stuff, and the introduction of S.P.E.W. Since readers were just getting information about the really dark side of...well, slavery is pretty dark in all its forms, but house-elves weren't funny anymore. So when Dobby showed up in the second movie, the filmmakers had that in mind, and the scenes of him beating himself took on a darker shade.

Also, this makes me realize how glad I am that the movies were made during the release of the books, and not after. Can you imagine all the horribly obvious Horcrux foreshadowing that would have been in this film if they had known about Horcruxes? Ugh, no thanks.

I have never watched the HP films before, or read the book. I am watching them then listening to the episodes.
I found the character of Dobby very very annoying. I am not sure what it is, I really do not know, he just grinds my gears. I really hope that I get "used" to him as the series goes on.
