I have a question: Why did the Neo-Nazis let Walt live? They've already got two bodies (what's one more?) and the cash and a cook. They know Walt is upset over Hank. They've robbed him, so he's even more upset. Why leave him alive? Walt knows too much. He could anonymously tip off the police, or he could set up a rival operation, or just seek revenge. Jack has no qualms about killing.
(Frankly I'm surprised they robbed Walt - that wasn't the deal, and they seemed loyal to Walt until now, and Walt did nothing wrong to them, but that's another issue.)
Also, because Todd still really looks up to him. The show smartly planted the seeds for this in that pre-credits diner scene a few episodes back, where Todd is proudly re-telling how awesome Walter White was at the Train Robbery. At the time, I thought the scene seemed a bit throwaway, but it actually turned out to be a brilliant bit of setting the story in motion 4 hours out.
Here's a scene I'd LOVE to see: In a parallel with the pilot, Jesse mixes some chemicals together and makes them blow up in Todd's face, helping him to escape. He doesn't even have to have Walt's chemistry knowledge. He just has to throw a bunch of random crap in a pan, stand back and hope for the best.
I think Walt is coming back to New Mexico in the flash-forward to slaughter Jack's gang, and it'll have nothing to do with morality or saving Jesse, it'll deal strictly with his own pride. Out in New Hampshire, he'll notice blue meth being sold on the streets and he'll realize the Nazis kept Jesse alive to keep cooking. Enraged at the Nazi's betrayal, and the audacity of someone using his product without his approval, he'll come back to kill them all.
Walt has ALWAYS been about pride and getting proper credit. It's fueled his mistakes over the course of the entire series. I really think he's back in ABQ because of his pride, not his family.
Unrelated, I love that Todd is the bizarro world version of Jesse. Articulate, calm, collected, always thinking on his feet, but his moral compass is nonexistent.
Typos fixed. ![]()
And even if I go with Walt's ego as motivator - the Bros have already taken over the bizness and Walt knows they're cooking. That was already going on for the past couple of episodes. So it doesn't answer the "why NOW?" question.
Yeaaah, I don't really want to read anything from the promos. I think stuff like this should be in a spoiler window, even in this thread.
That promo actually tells us a LOT more than the others have this season.
