The more I think about it, the more I think we oughta get around to Stripes... it's a very different subject, but Stripes is very similar in tone to Ghostbusters - not surprising since it had 3/4ths of the core team who would go on to make GB: Murray and Ramis starring and Reitman directing.
It was a lowbudget flick that became a huge hit, which led to them getting a shot at a bigger budget project based on Dan Aykroyd's wacky ghosthunting script, and the rest is history.
So there ya go, without Stripes there would be no Ghostbusters, says I.

Double feature with Private Benjamin? Two different takes on military comedy just a year apart.
I actually have a slight personal connection to Private Benjamin. Astute DiF listeners might know.
And An Officer and a Gentleman for an odd triple feature cuz, as you know, that movie has no where else to go!
I LOVE Officeer and a Gentlmen. The first 8 minutes is some solid ass expository writing.
No dude, I was quoting Stripes.
lol i know mate, just using my post and yours as a segue to use one of my favorite quotes.
also, think if your going to do another move with stripes in the one sitting it needs to be spies like us, great movie that actually says a lot, kinda like Aykroyd's weird take on Dr. Strangelove, and both make comedy out of the cold war in different ways.

Ooh, and TAPS.
When I was in middle school I had this great idea for my big first novel- there's some sort of new civil war in the US, and the Boy Scouts including the troop of our heros pick a side. You have kids in uniform in a war! (inspired by seeing hundreds of scouts climbing all over Old Fort Niagara) Then I see the TV ads for TAPS and figure my idea has been stolen Luckily it turned there was little overlap, and eventually my idea morphed into a sci fi story about children soldiers fleeing the horrors of war. A failed self published comic later (two issues drawn, nothing published), and I still think about trying again...
I'm very late with the Stripes quotes but to this day i still use "I'm pacing myself" and "He's eying that rug". DIF should definitely do it.
When it comes to Stripes quotes, "I just wish I hadn't drunk all that cough syrup..." is my #1 go-to, with "Lighten up, Francis" a close second.
Such a vehicle would be great for picking up girls in Minsk.
I just want you to know that if we ever get into really heavy combat, i'll be behind you guys every step of the way.
It got brought up during 2012, but I'd like to do Redbelt. That movie has a few levels of interest for me, since my old instructor was the fight choreographer for that movie, and I've actually trained or fought (gotten my ass kicked by, more realistically) many of the people in that film.
