Ok, I've added some ribbons to indicate different types of shows, image loading indicators (animations, yay) and title placeholders to improve readability. There's still some behind the scenes optimization to do but other than that I'm done smile

If someone finds a bug or has an idea for a cool feature let me know. It's been a fun little project smile

Small update: I've added basic lazy loading of images so only those that are visible on the screen will get loaded. Mobile users rejoice (or something tongue)

I'll get that sorted when I can. Just FYI, the app runs on sass+typescript+dust so some compilation is required before deployment.

I'm guessing no. But it'd be a great thing if it did.

Why would it be better than Podcast Addict or Downcast? wink

Hey, cool. Can I steal this/give you a home on DIF to put it? I can think of a few quick fixes to make it more mobile-friendly.

Sure, do you have git/make/shell power over there?

Also, yes, the line breaks are Teague's fault, even if he doesn't know why. So much pain and misery.

Calling this specific app bloated isn't exactly fair

Sure it its. It's bloated because it has more functionality than needed in this case. It doesn't mean that the app itself is bad in any way. It's all subjective.

I do like what you did with the place smile

No, I meant there's no fun for me in downloading some bloated app smile This solves a particular problem that I had with the main site and since the feature is broken for everyone, I'm happy to share it with the rest of the community. I don't need a zillion different podcasts, I just wanted FIYH to work wink

Where's the fun in that? wink

This is fucking rad. Did it just load all of the images on the website at once, though? That doesn't seem very mobile-friendly.

I know, hence the @Todo in my post. On the other hand if you're gonna download/stream a 120mb+ mp3 with your phone 8mb worth of images won't hurt you that much. Once they get cached by the browser you'll be fine next time you load the list.

In any case I'll get that sorted once I have some free time again.

I dunno what json is.

Both the site and my list use this for data: http://friendsinyourhead.com/json.php

I've been doing some traveling lately and wanted to use my time on the train to catch up on the commentaries I've missed. As it turns out the commentary list does no work on mobile devices properly. Scrolling is impossible and while you can use the search box, it's not 100% accurate and scrambles the list after clearing the input field.

So I made this: http://dif-mobile.l-x11.com

This is a standalone, mobile-friendly (kinda wink) version of the commentary list from the frontpage. I've replaced various sorting methods with simple sections. Search field is included as well with regular expressions support (because why not). You can use queries like "matrix|avengers" and get everything related to both keywords.

There are handy buttons for downloading the shows as well as links to the forum for each entry. If you tap on 'Listen' you'll be redirected back to the main site with your show of choice queued up and ready.

*done*: lazy loading of images. Right now the list is being loaded all at once (starting from the bottom so give it a minute).

Side notes:

Images for episodes 11, 15 and 16 are missing. Someone (*cough*Teague) might want to look into it wink
Also, Teague loses points for having linebreaks in the json file tongue

Yeah, I was kinda thinking that each week would be it's own contained selection pool if that makes sense.

Done.

Remove the :: between 'Week' and '4'.

Alright then. I'll add that in my spare time.

Lamer: I'm noticing that the suggestion number on the list doesn't reset on a new week. It just goes from where it ended, it's not a huge deal, it's easy enough to work around, but thought you'd like to know.

Were they supposed to reset? tongue I'm only counting posts atm. There's no category or filtering system in place so I keep it simple for now. Do you need them to match between the forum and the list?

So humanity evolves beyond 4 dimensions because it saves itself by reaching back in time after evolving beyond 4 dimensions by...

It's a Terminator style time loop. Except in the Terminator humans had a pretty good reason to mess with the timeline. Not so much in Interstellar though.

Picks are now being marked on the list: www.dif.l-x11.com

Can we tag the selected movies in the original posts? Something like this would do:

# winner #

It doesn't have to say 'winner', the tag is arbitrary. If we do that I can mark the picks on the list.

http://dif.l-x11.com/

Have fun with it kids. Keep in mind that my hosting provider is retarded and blocks data fetching if the number of external requests gets too high (hence the subdomain change). So if you click the link and all you get is a jittery spinner followed by nothingness than there's nothing I can do about that atm, sorry. If however you'll manage to get everything working smoothly you can click on movie titles to get some basic info about the films.

Although we probably don't want Attack Of The mutant Cheeseburgers in there. As much as I dearly love that movie, it's probably not right for this.

I've got no control over what goes in there. If it's posted in the correct format it'll get included. This thread is our database.

Teague wrote:

I made a graphic and put it in the banner. Wanna give this thing as fair-a-shake at getting some attention as possible.

I'm willing to automate as much as possible out of this if there's any interest. As long as we stick to a pre-defined format for suggestions you can keep posting in this thread and I'll scrape the relevant data for people who want to know what's up but can't dig through an entire thread to find all the entries. After that we can do whatever we want with the data (suggestion numbering, week tracking etc.).

I was thinking about something like this for starters (rough prototype):

http://dif.l-x11.com/

I might throw in a simple movie info lookup if I have any free time left wink

What do you think?
