Is there a file that doesn't cut off at 89 minutes?

You could have done a similar idea to what you were saying but instead of having her drown, end the film after here re-entry speech and just show the outside of the capsule entering the atmosphere.  Leave it up to the viewer to decide whether or not she burned up on re-entry or not.  You'd still have the rebirth tone with her overcoming adversity and smiling while giving her monologue.  At that point she'd done everything possible and her survival was completely out of her hands.

Of course, I still don't think they should have gone that way, because then we wouldn't get the soaked Sandra in her Underwear.

I felt as excited about space as Brian does for a few minutes after watching it and that's never happened before.  I guess that's saying something.  But I don't need a trailer to want to see Chris Nolan's next project anyway, so I guess I don't have to analyze it further.

Lost my internet connection during the end of Half Blood Prince so I missed the forum code but I was around for the majority of the show.  Great job guys.  Dorkman and Kyle are rockstars.  Sorry you missed your goal but $5,000+ is nothing to be ashamed of.  Well done all around.

I don't think the significance or the poor taste of the marketing should be underestimated.

I just highly doubt that there are people who have no problem with the content of this advertising who will now refuse to see this move because of the timing of it's release. And even those who claim that now, can't stay mad at it for the full year that passes between now and the movies release.  If it was the movie itself being released on the 50th anniversary that might(and I doubt that even) register in box office figures.

Well no, 50 years is a huge anniversary. They made a big deal out of it with all the documentaries and stuff. So, clearly it does matter to many people. Again, I don't particularly care (although, apparently I do more than the other non-Americans which is worrying big_smile ) I just thought releasing it in the same week as people were remembering and paying tribute was a bit off.

I'd say the 50th is less important than the 49th which is less important than the 48th, etc.  The 50th anniversary stuff is an arbitraty number that society has decided to make falsely important.  In reality if we actually cared then we would still care as much on the 49th and the 51st anniversary and not only then, but the rest of the year as well.  My dad passed away a few years back and I miss him almost every day, but not any more on his birthday or the anniversary of the day that he died.  Anniversaries make sense from a programming perspective and so does this ad campaign.

50 years is so long ago that it doesn't matter.  I have a bigger problem with Stone's JFK and all the conspiracy theory stuff that gets passed off as facts.  That's doing more damage than a fake X-men promo.

They did have a plan for the life of the entire show initially, but that involved killing Jesse at the end of the 1st season and that whole thing went out the window.

Indeed. I don't care how many goddamn voices he did in ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, Jim Dale's readings are terrible.

I should say that it was on your recommendation on the original commentary that I got the idea to search them out.

Which audiobooks?

The UK/Stephen Frye versions of the Harry Potter series.

Tombstone's another "badass moment" goldmine.  One of my faves is Ken Russell slapping Billy Bob Thornton around.  "Go on - skin that smokewagon and see what happens."

My favorite from Tombstone is Kurt Russell just repeatedly yelling "No!" as he's walking into the river mowing down bad guy after bad guy.

Currently going through all of the audiobooks in preparation for this.  Currently half way through Order of the Phoenix.  Never read the books and I've only watched the movies once or twice each.

So are we going to get a montage video of you guys in training for the commentary marathon?

American Movie could be ok with the movie making ones.   Or you could pair American Movie with Grizzly Man and do a "People who probably should be eaten by bears" subject.

Children of Men featured, like, no children at all. What the hell, movie? It's like you were doing it on purpose.

I agree completely.  I thought that this was a sequel to Junior.   What a ripoff.  NO STARS

I'd like a movie disasters intermission.  By that I mean the movies that went so far over their budgets they bankrupted studios and what happened that caused them to go over budget.  You've mentioned the end of United Artists being a certain film that I can't remember now.  I vaguely remember there being something about Waterworld's set partially sinking or some specific event that led to the production cost skyrocketing.  Examples like that, that don't necessarily merit doing a full Waterworld commentary to tell the story but something along those lines would be interesting.  As an extension, the near miss scenarios that got movies finished that should have been canned (like Heath Ledger's role being partially recast by Johnny Depp and Jude Law).

What things do you need for the "price-y" portion of the show?  I have decent microphone stands with pop screens and things like that, that might be cheaper to ship to you, than to donate and have you buy or rent yourselves if that's the hardware stuff you're looking for.  If not I'd be happy to donate cash if it's for the food and other day of stuff. Any idea how much you're looking for?

Not really a pun but doing this would at least have Hogwarts show up in searches.

I'll agree with the original/now redacted suggestion.  I'd be curious about the guys backgrounds and how they came to be atheists.  Half of the experience of each episode is about the topic of discussion and the other half is who is actually being featured in the episode.  Their backgrounds are relevant and while I don't think that should necessarily take up an entire chunk of a movie commentary, that's what an intermission could be for.  Just the concept of Eddie mentioning being annoyed by "new atheists" in one commentary had me laughing for quite a while, because those 2 words painted a bigger picture than you can imagine.  The conversations don't lose my interest for the most part, whether or not I care about the topic or not and this is one I would be interested in anyway. Just saying.

How in the hell do you get into a 3D movie for 12 bucks?? That's a regular 2D in these parts. A 3D is like 16.

That's our regular price in somewhat small town (pop.-60k), Wisconsin.  Regular movies are $9.50 and 3-D is $12.00

With these box office numbers, is there any way for the public to know how many people have seen the film in 3-D and/or IMAX 3-D and how many have seen it in standard projection? Strictly curiosity on my part here.

Mark me down for $12 for a 3-D showing.

I'll nominate Dead Presidents.  Until very recently we've never had an African American President, and yet that entire cast was essentially African American.  Worst casting ever.

Sorry for the necro thread of a time sensitive topic but I was curious what Trey thought of Hugo winning after he didn't think it would be nominated.
