Hmm...alright first off, I think I need apologize...I was in a very very very bad/spiteful mood last night, reasons for which include alot of things but among them a 30 minute argument with a facebook prophet bringing the light of civilization the heathens of the world. (I'm talking about their view on the movie, I do have a facebook, I don't need to be sold on it).

Secondly...now that I'm in a cooler head.

@Dorkman:

I did/do know that Mark Zuckerberg/facebook had nothing to do with the movie, I think that's one of the driving factors that make me not want to see this movie. It just seems like a particularly good example of the way hollywood seems intent on screwing with everything.
This idea of making a film about something that only came into existence not even 10 years ago and then to try and sell it as the "true" story of the conception of it (I'm not saying it is, I'm saying that every single marketing element I saw, was trying to convince me that this is a movie about the true way facebook got started) without even having the ACTUAL people involved in the making of it, but more than that seeing the actual people speak out against the portrayal of the events.

Everything about this movie seems wrong and disgusting.

So Dorkman that's where this movie differs from those you listed. The fact that it's advertising that it's a true depiction of events that happened a very very short time ago comparatively, when everything else I know about the movie screams that that can't be true.

PS. My reference to the pop culture machine was misused. What I meant was this fad of movies being made solely about pop culture icons in an attempt to make as much money of it while they can without even a thought to whether or not it's an idea worth making a movie about.

And yes I fully understand that that has always been a thing in hollywood and always will be, so I guess I'm just using TSN as my milk carton to stand on and preach my message of the evils of hollywood to the crowds once again. I'll freely admit that.

Since my previous metaphoric exploit into my woes and tribulations surrounding this particular flick seem to exist on a plane of comprehension quite separate from our own, I instead present this:

The Social Network.

I am torn between my love for David Fincher and my entirely consuming loathing for the mere concept of such a pop culture cash grab. Do I feed my money to the pop culture machine and fuel the cycle some more or do I stay true to my gut and avoid it like a plague...at least til a decent torrent comes around?

Thoughts?

Fixed it for yah.

And I thought that was pretty much his entire character arc and the reason for the movie being about clones. The original Sam had anger issues which is why he took the job on the moon base in the first place, to give him time to work himself out before he destroyed his marriage. Which obviously it worked because the Sam who's been there for 3 years is pretty much chilled solid whereas the new Sam still has all the original anger issues because he hasn't spent 3 years by himself (Btw I hardly think the original Sam has been on the base for a year, I got the impression it was maaaaybe a couple months).

I really think Brian's mistake was, as he himself has phrased it, reading into the movie instead of out from it.

Duncan Jones doesn't know that Brian Finifter wants to see "the APOLLO 13 that hasn't happened yet." It's not his fault that he didn't make the movie he had no idea Brian was going to think he was making.

Nailed it.

And while I'm with Brian that I am still waiting anxiously for that Apollo 13 that hasn't happened yet...I never once thought Moon was going to be it.

For what it's worth I enjoyed it. However I've been led to believe I'm of the minority in that opinion.

Well in that little test it poped up with this when I used the quick reply at the bottom of the page.

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o251/maul2/th_DiF_PunStopBots1.jpg

Then you type "earth" and it posts the message. The other question I get is "Say "Hello"", so I type Hello, but it doesn't recognize it as the answer (I've also tried hello, Hello, "hello", "Hello" etc etc, no luck), so you have to keep doing that until it gets fed up and gives you the earth one, then it posts your reply.

But when I used the full "Post Reply" page, it just straight up posted the reply, no strings. If this changes I'll let you know.

Am I the only one having an issue with the punbots thing when you post a new message? Specifically with the say "Hello" one...unless Teague decided to be clever, it won't recognize the answer and I have to keep reentering it until it gives me the earth one, and only then will it let me post the message.

Dude that's crazy, I still cannot wrap my head around these people who can just make up their entirely own language and use it in day to day life; I mean I understand the mechanics of how it could work, but it just seems like so much bloody work to make it happen. People that do that kind of shit blow my mind (But not the Navi guy, cause he's a fucking professor of language or whatever) end, period and full stop.

PS. Milla is so fucking cute...

I've watched the chicken scene about 4 times in a row....that sounds a little pervy...but her performance is just so awesome.

Alright I feel a pressing need to resuscitate this post momentarily.

First off, if you havn't already seen this guy, watch this video (or one of his others, they're all equally as batshit).

So I know obviously that he isn't the first nutjob who claims to be a prophet, but he is however the first one I have seen come into a certain amount of prescence in the online world, namely through youtube. And even a cursory glance through the comments on all of his vids will leave you A) sickened by humanity and B)with a very disturbing feeling that there are a lot of people out there that are eating up what this guy is preaching.

So I'm wondering, do you think this ability for anyone to say basically anything they want online is going to affect the...religious architecture...(best way i can phrase it...if I think of something better I'll let you know) of the world. Is it going to become more of a fad for kool aid cults and the like to spring up through this sort of a medium. Virtually uncontrollable, these things could exist without even a single "physical" manifestation of the cult, just a lot of individual people listening to the preachings of these people and acting seperatly.

I don't know, I just find it interesting, I have no clue if this would make a good discussion topic at all, but I figured if you haven't seen this guy yet, if not for a good discussion it's definitely good for a few laughs.

I could make religion joke here, but I won't.

I agree with everything Dorkman said.

Never tried, probably never will, think everyone should be able to get as fucked up as they want.

Fairly simple.

So I decided to actually watch the movie first...and um wow.

But I gotta say, I can't be the only one thinks Milla speaking the divine tongue is one of the most awesome things I have ever heard.

Anyways....on with the commentary.

EDIT: I'm back, enjoyed it as per usual. Not really much to say on this one, it is definitly just one of those movies you have to just sit back and go and say "Yep that was a thing."

Although since you were talking about him, Lee Evans is actually a really funny stand up comedian. And Mouse Trap, while not necessarily a "quintessential" movie of my childhood, it was definitely one of the ones I loved when I was that age (and still do actually), and it was probably the first movie I fell in love with Nathan Lane.
