Thus intensifying the arms race. Excellent.
Pitch: Just like Winston from "1984" but in a modern, not-to-distant future...
'They' create an app that goes into peoples phones, cloud accounts and photocopier cache memories to edit images & videos to remove things 'the government' doesn't want people to know about.
Obvious solution: return everything to physical media; plot twist: you can't!
"Rise of Skywalker" opened while I was ever so briefly in LA last December.
In the immediate debrief of our communal viewing [namedrop] Ryan and Seth [/namedrop] strenuously disagreed with me that deepfake tech might have been (or should have been) used to enhance the late Ms. Fisher's performances. I have yet to re-watch, so I remain on the fence.
Another short film I've partially written and will never film is an amalgam of stories of the 4 little graves in my backyard. Crying with you right now Snail.
Yeah, you gotta lead your life.
How much longer 'til they reconnect your, um, shit?
Alright, have it your way.
You had ZERO woodworking experience?!?
Then maybe it's your photography skills bringing it home, because that thing looks amazing.
Yeah, safesearch was off. Sorry, not sorry.
<edit> Hat tip to Boter for at least catching (and explaining) the reference.
[injects RFID tag into Dave.]
Welcome back.
Downloaded.
Obviously JJ knew she was Palpatine's heir from TFA forward; Did Ryan know?
The purpose of that rhetorical is to proceed to this one: Do we still think the three sequels were bumbling along (as we the internet echo chamber did while discussing leadership & casting announcements), or was this the plot outline Kathleen Kennedy, et al, were pitched at the outset?
Put me down as of the opinion that the latter is the case. We can quibble about the execution, but the plot backbone has been there. Now I'm off to google what the "ring theory" guy has to say.
The Alan Arkin "Catch-22."
Caught it on [whatever streaming service] while I was agonizing over some work stuff I no longer had any power over, and just had to wait for my thing to land or crash. Making this film an oddly fitting metaphor.
Can't believe they got so much actual military hardware for such an unflattering portrayal of the brass.
Add this to my list of films to show potential military recruits, with FMJ & Jacob's Ladder.
Excellent black comedy (? ...I mean I laughed at a few things early on...) in the vein of, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." Surreal dreamy bits, Orson Welles, perfect ending.
"The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of The Force."
Now we know that's true.
He says to the guy from Chicago...
The guitar part that first comes in right at 0:44 is what I've named the 'spanish' stuff.
Probably not the most accurate, possibly racist, IDK.
My google-fu:
Does that Slipperman thing exist anywhere with the audio files intact? Quick search on the archive indicated not.
<edit> A more thoughtful search: https://web.archive.org/web/20180421152 … erman.html
<shrug> It's kinda like beer.
I concur with the parts of Junior's comments that I grok. I've got sound-guy cred but no production.
The spanish/classical picking is cool, but I think I'd to hear it sharper, brighter...the distortion masks the skill of the player there. Maybe everything is mixed with too much low-frequency? Fill out the upper registers somehow? Spanish style guitar 'usually' brings higher overtones.
That's an inversion of my previous comment: the articles deliberately obscure their source, since if you knew that you wouldn't have needed them and won't in future. If clicks are the resource, this is the competition for them.
It takes an advanced level of google-fu to get past and around sponsored and ill-gotten search results, but it's just arms race for those clicks.
I keep hoping someone will begin to offer an AI that will crawl my social feeds alongside me while learning the difference between wanted and unwanted content and eventually take over as a filter. Open source, and under my total control, of course.
Those are for seeds?
I must've missed the metaphor memo.
