Speaking of reference, might do well to collect some good general resources.

The Loomis manuals are some of my favorite, still reference some of the perspective stuff for tricky vfx shots. They aren't in print, but their digital procurement is a regrettably simple process.

i like your work Dave.
If I may, while I am no artist, I am familiar with shooting and her stance may be giving the lifeless aspect. Her arms should form a V in front of her, for two handed, but the elbows should be slightly bent prior to shooting.

Thanks guys. A little backstory on this:

I did this a while back. I went mental one day and wanted to just paint something really detailed and get it as realistic and close to the reference (yeah it's not painted from imagination, I can't do that [yet wink]) as possible. I've put somewhere around 16-18 hours into this and got really close before photoshop crashed while saving. So this is my last backup before that happend.

Even unfinished it's still my best painting. It's all downhill from here smile

Work stuff. Tons of mistakes in that one but I painted it from imagination which is an uncharted territory for me. Textures were used smile
