That's funny, cause for me its the opposite. I find it much harder to be scared in a movie theater full of other people than just watching something by myself, alone at night.

Paranormal Activity was a blast to watch in the theater because everyone was freaking out. At one point, a woman started crying - CRYING - in fear. But it was distracting. My mind kept floating to "man, the filmmakers must love going to showings of their movie to soak up this reaction."

So in that sense, I'm the same way, Bullet. But right now I'm at my parents' house all alone except for 2 dogs. It's in the middle of nowhere, on a lake, and they have an awesome entertainment center. So I'm in a good position to scare myself with movies this week.

If you guys talked about Hoop Dreams for 4 hours, I'd listen. The best documentary ever made.

I can't wait for the Lady & Head buddy films. Cruising the universe solving mysteries and whatnot.

I don't think they're including amateur films, Zarban. Didn't obscenity laws basically prohibit public exhibition of porn? I'm assuming this graph is looking at theaters. But I don't know.

EDIT: Though I have no idea what the social mores regarding porn were in, say, France circa 1935. So the representation of porn could be much higher in places that weren't America. I need more information on the study.

Trick'R'Treat would be a lot of fun. I'm sure you could even find a conversation about Goosebumps in there. Same vein would be Trilogy of Terror. But. Meh.

What about an Intermission-Commentary hybrid on Exit Through the Gift Shop? I imagine there's a lot to talk about there.

Warp drive is maybe possible again.

I just finished the Hellhound of Wall Street. This book is amazing. I'm going to re-read it this weekend. It's perfect if you want to understand more modern regulation issues or the S.E.C in general. But I need some light reading now, so I'mma check out Underground tonight.

Currently re-reading The Tipping Point, the book that put Malcolm Gladwell on the map (it's fine, not as good as Blink, not as interesting as Outliers) and Anonymous, the book about - uh - Anonymous.

If you've never read Gladwell, you're missing a part of our modern culture you want to be exposed to, and Anonymous is the most thrilling non-fiction book I've ever read. Recommendation for all of the books heretofore mentioned.

(Outliers first.)

I really enjoyed The Ascent of Money. It's basically a survey course on the history of cash. You might already know some of it, but I learned more than I expected and it was a fun read.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Melancholia (the worst film ever made) but no Ghostbusters or Space Jam? Go to hell, Sight and Sound. I'm canceling my subscription.

I want the 76" version, but somehow that still seems too small.
