Helpful export settings, if you're using something to trim down your clips, or re-size them. This is for the use of Quicktime, you can put these settings into QT Pro (thirty bucks or so, it just unlocks other features in regular Quicktime, such as export) or After Effects, or Final Cut, or anything that writes out to Quicktime.

When you're ready to export something, set up your Quicktime settings thusly. (In QT Pro, this is available in an "Options" box when you click File -> Export.)

Use MPEG 4 Video, key frames automatic, restrict data rate to 3,500 kbits/sec. If you have a "compressor quality" slider, set it to high. Sound can be left uncompressed, or set to AAC 44.100 kHz Stereo, 128 kbps.

Remember, I'm only outputting the final at 720x480 or so, so if you have HD footage, you could halve the frame size to 960x540 and still give me more than enough. You might want to consider this if you have a lot of footage, just to save yourself time on exports and uploads. You can change the output resolution in the QT output dialog you'll already have open, by clicking "size."

If you're not going to trim anything (and you certainly don't have to if you don't want to), that's cool too, just toss the footage on the FTP.

Thanks guys! The more I see, the more confident I am that we've got a winner here. A weird, weird winner.

I was having a conversation with Harrell last night, and it morphed into a really interesting discussion of the differences between what he and I "give" a movie at the outset, and eventually how that affects the way we look at movies as a whole.

For instance, he gives any movie a certain amount of credit, sight unseen. "A movie can only lose me," more or less. I was a bit on the other side of things, where any movie can impress me more and more, but it starts somewhere near zero.

Where do you fall on that spectrum? Has the way you experience movies changed over the course of your adult life?

Heh. It wouldn't break the movie, but I'd prefer you didn't. wink

Your voice is pleasant.

I don't even know what the hell I'm watching, but you're off to a good start with the recording quality and the sex voice.

You could do it in a taxi cab, if you don't mind being stared at like you're mad.

Pretty much all of it is CITW. We don't go into spoilers for a few minutes, though, but generally - we recommend it. Go see it.

Folks all over the planet are apparently experiencing rain - Maggot and Dave are under rainy clouds, too. I'm not too hung up on not-raining, I don't think it'll make too much of a difference. Daytime is preferred simply as a technicality.

Okeydokey, hopefully I can clear it all up.
