I have a suggestion on a movie you should never do. Never do The Spirit. That movie... Oh. MY. GOD what a waste that one is. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I think Frank Miller finally lost his marbles...

Should be fun today!
I wouldn't say it's so much a "good reasons for hating everything" podcast. I think for the most part that the podcast is about analyzing the film from a structural and story perspective. I mean, Dead Man's Chest had huge flaws in the way the story was put together.
I have my problems with Mystery Men and Zombieland so I look forward to seeing what is said.
that Keith Richards bit needs to be in the anniversary mash-up Ryan!
why not just do all 3 in one day and get it over with...
Liked the first one, in my book, it's a perfect movie. Hits all it promises to hit and doesn't really miss a beat.
Second one, not so good, but okay.
Third one, WTF, just kill me now this thing is so boring and way too long. Did enjoy the multiple Jack Sparrows angle though. That was sweet!
I thought he explained it pretty well too. Just seems like from the Jackie Chan image that someone was still confused... So I tried to explain it a different way for Kyle's sake. Whether I did or not is up for debate...
let me give it a try, and correct me if I get it wrong...if you shoot 24 fps with a video camera, but your shutter is set at 1/24th; you'll have that video look that you see in Public Enemies. If you change your shutter to 1/48th, you'd get the more cinematic look. Every Video camera, even the Red One, has a scanning rate for the sensor; which is essentially expressed in FPS; and they have a shutter speed setting. The shutter speed is completely independent from the FPS. It's confusing at first, but once you get a little into it, it begins to make sense both practically and mathematically.
In film, you have both FPS and shutter angle. And shutter angle is a whole 'nother can of worms...
how far did you guys get before you had to cut off the feed on Waterworld?
Waterworld?! really...? this should be interesting... And Scott Pilgrim sounds like fun. I have that one on Blu Ray. Listened to the commentary, I enjoyed the mix of technical info and humor. I think Edgar Wright does good commentaries. Haven't heard the ones for Hot Fuzz or Shawn...
TMNT is one of the only flicks that I know of where Sam Rockwell doesn't dance in it...
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The first movie, and the CGI one TMNT... There really is no case to make other than I just enjoyed myself while watching these flicks.
Cast Away. Just liked the quiet, slow crawl of this flick. In todays movie-scape, we need more flicks like Cast Away...
Anyhey... I'm gonna start using that in my daily conversation.
I know you all didn't have time to get to all the questions. Should I save the firat one I asked for next year or can you all answer that one on the forum?
And great show BTW, I was in Tulsa at the time you did the live recording so I caught the video feed on Justin.tv. Love seeing the video feed BTW.
What have each of you learned about storytelling and film structure while being a part of DIF? And follow up question; have any of you incorporated what you've learned into any of your various projects whether professional or personal?
what does each member of the panel do to prep for the show? for example, I've heard different panelists state in different commentaries that they watched the flick before doing the commentary to brush up on it. Are there any other things that different panelists do aside from watching the film beforehand?
I can't remember if you all answered this question during the first anniversary show...
will you be doing video on this too, so we can watch live?
oh, you're doing the next one on a Sunday? I'm gonna miss the Incredibles one, but I'll be back for the CWACM one.
why would anyone hate on the Incredibles? It's like that cuddly stuffed animal you liked as a kid, it's just so good.
Daredevil.... I really like the comic book and the way Frank Miller wrote the character. Why can't they get the character right in the movie? I envisioned a really back to basics fight with the character in the mud and rain, but NOOOOOO, they give us Ben Afleck doing wire work!
yes! Incredibles! We goin for a ride! I like the cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs thingy. Wasn't that flick the first 3D CGI Animation film?
yes. I second the motion.
you guys should have more episodes with Cloe. I'd love to hear her rap again the way she did on those geekza episodes. that was fun to listen to!
Mulholland Drive goes completely off the reservation toward the end.
awesome! It's shaping up to be a good weekend thus far!
Man, not much love for the Incredibles... I thought you guys would eat that right up.
oh! First David Lynch flick! You must get Chad Peter for this commentary! The interwebs compel you!
