Thanks, that'll be a massive help when it comes to logging. I think the shot list on it's own should be sufficient, but it wouldn't hurt to update the storyboards, I suppose.
EDIT: Just as I posted this, the footage had finished downloading. Hurrah!
EDIT 2: Any chance of a quick and dirty render of the ship flyby? As far as I can tell, they're the only all CG shots in the thing. If not, I'll just whack a placeholder in for now.
Change "evil Sith Lord - DARTH NIKEN" to "evil Sith lord DARTH VOYNE and his young apprentice DARTH NIKEN." Correct the spelling of "separated". And change the final paragraph to "Straya, a Jedi Padawan, has been sent on a mission to investigate a smuggler base on the remote planet of Dantah, unaware that her nemesis is once again on her trail...."
I was doing some fiddling around in AE and thought I'd make an opening crawl for this. Then when I went to do it, I realised I had completely forgotten how to make a good one. Awh well, here it is anyhow.
Damn, I wish I were able to have joined you guys on set - it looks like it was a lot of fun. Any idea when I'll be getting the footage to start playing around with? I've got a couple of things coming up, so I'd just like to schedule my time accordingly.
EDIT: I've just noticed there are videos as well as images. The clip of Teague showing the kids how to twirl their sabers made me grin seeing as I've tried teaching people to do the same thing myself.
By "typical Linklater" do you mean long philosophical conversations or offbeat humor?
Yeah, I probably should have clarified. I meant the more philosophical parts, the humour totally worked for me. I'm not saying any instance of that happening is bad either, but every now and then there'd be a moment where I'd think 'This feels less like the character speaking and more just Linklater trying to get his own personal viewpoint across'.
I saw this earlier tonight and for the most part I really enjoyed it. I think I could safely say I loved it up until the 'mid-teen years' part, but even then I was still totally onboard apart from the odd scene or two. Strangely enough, I thought it was the parts which were more typical Linklater that felt out of place to me.
I found this blog a while back in which a guy watches all these 'pop culturally relevant' movies for the first time and writes down his thoughts as he's watching the film. It's pretty cool stuff. Anyways, I just read his thoughts on Alien and thought it was too good not to share.
Owen, you're on rough cut for the edit. Can you be available on the weekend of the 25th to start looking at Zarban's principle footage and put together something for Zarbs and Teague to work with?
Teague, do you have space for another roto monkey? I'm bereft of a job
Can we clarify a couple of positions so I can keep clear track of where people are at, deliverables, and timelines? Let me know if this needs revision, and I know, alright. It's just a thing I do because, well, order.
Script. Zarban, Bathilda, and Fireproof - is the script locked at v.3?
Storyboards. Zarban do you want to do something rough and we can refine? Invid are you assisting? Can we get some rough boards for this weekend so everyone can begin looking at what we're going for?
Shooting. Jim are you heading over to chateau Zarban to shoot on the weekend of the 25th?
Edit. I'm happy to put my hand up for rough cut duties if the Doty is busy, but he's the Doty. And the Doty edits (this just in - if you say Doty 3 times he appears and critiques your home-made lasagne).
VFX Sup. Teague, I assume you're putting this hat on, are you good to assemble troops and assign work / timelines? Happy to help here where I can.
Sound. Holden, it appears you're the gent waving your hairy beast above some lucky people's heads on the 25th, Alex how's your availability early next month once there's a rough cut together?
As I said, I'd also quite like to edit this. I'm happy to split the work though if you wanna do it that way?
Need a novelization? Naturally, given the massive lead time I'll need, I'll be working with the spec script and fill in any missing details with my own unsold story ideas...
That just made me think. A kids storybook with illustrations and the like would be pretty awesome.
