Happy to. Be on vacation next week so I can devote more time to it, if that isn't an issue.

Interesting! But am I the only one who didn't know what Prince Rupert's Drops were before this thread?

I found out because of the Smarter Every Day episode posted at the top of this thread, a few years ago. Great channel to subscribe to, he's currently doing a space series, talking to astronomers and so forth.

Also BDA: Owowowowow nope-nope-nope-nope

I did not know what they were until this thread.

Also, I'm wondering if something nasty could be enclosed in the drops (somehow), such as acid or poison? That way you have the shattering glass noise (unsettling) as well as the possibility of causing damage to armor.

Also, and I'll defer to others on this, can the drops be made with barbs that are more likely to stay in a wound?

Wouldn't phosphorus explode on impact and keep burning?

I'm with Teague in my limited ability to understand physics, which has certainly limited my own writing some times.

It sounds cool, but I think Zarban might have a point is all I'm saying.

So now for my actual thoughts in the Announcement.  I'm normally verbose to a fault so I'll keep this brief.

I was a good editor before I became a friend in your head.  I am far better at what I do now, in no small part because of this.  More than that though, this podcast has solidified friendships that will last me my lifetime.  I was friends with Trey when we started but the rest of the DIF/WAYDM family is exactly that, they're family to me.   I've been so stupidly lucky to have such wonderful people in my life as both friends and collaborators.  My 4 year old loves his Aunt Cloe and Uncle "Teeth," and you guys, this forum, have literally heard of his growth in real time.  While I'm sad to see FIYH in it's current iteration come to an end, I know that the relationships I've formed are anything but over, and at the end of the day, like Teague said, it's act of doing for the sake of doing that matters the most.

By hte way, Teague.  You.  You are a goddamned inspiration.  I stand in awe of your brain, your work ethic and most of all, your aggressive, in your face fucking KINDNESS.  You are the most decent guy I know.  I was honored when you asked me to be a part of this, and you've been nothing but supportive the entire time I've known you.  You are an entrenched part of my life, so get used to it, sucker.  Thank you for the totality of THIS.

And yeah...Documentality will live on.  Why?  Because you all have inspired me.  You all motivate me.  And like I said in our 1 year anniversary show, this podcast and this community filled the cinematic gap that was created when my father passed.  The film club we started was reincarnated when this community came into my life.  So for now, until the end of my days, I shall forever be...your friend (in your head).

Well said, Eddie. I have appreciate all of you and your inspiration in terms of film knowledge, and just just life in general. I would be remiss if I didn't say that I second what you say about Teague. I've known a lot of decent people, but Teague, is someone who just surprises me with his generosity.

Actually, this entire forum surprises me with their generosity. I ask for tips on something and someone, somewhere, sends me a message. I go through difficult or frustrating times, and someone gives me an ear to listen. Likewise, I have had the opportunity to encourage those of you who need it.

Thank you for your words, Eddie, as they remind me (once more) about how special you all are smile

I'm sad to see the podcast go. It's been a godsend during my commute to school (I drive like 500km - 300 miles - a week). But with 1000 hours to revisit, I think I'll manage.

I've been more of a forum lurker than an active member, but I feel like I know all of you. I read all the posts and occasionally hang out in the chat. (I'll probably appear from time to time to rant - like if the Broadway version of Frozen actually happens.)

Is this a thing? Please tell me this isn't a thing?

I've known people who had to drive 4hrs round trip to go from home to college before. If you can't afford
and apartment and have to live a home.

Um, was referring to the Frozen Broadway musical, the bolded part in my quote.

I've done the whole commute thing (80 miles round trip a day, 5 days a week) and had teachers who did longer. No stranger to that. Small town, rural community, etc.

Well, it sounds odd, but maybe it can be kind of interview-esque, like that show "Inside the Actor's Studio" where you get a "Where we've been, where we're going" type of a thing.

I mean, I'm sure it will be a fan-fest, but we can try to pretend to be professional (just not at this wink ).

I know what you're thinking? Did I record all 1000 hours or only 990? You know, in all the podcasting I lost track myself. Seeing as how this is the FIYH community, the most sarcastic community on the Internet, you have to ask yourself one question-do I feel lucky?

Dude, you were maul2? I never made that connection.

Granted, I haven't been on tfn in forever but still, I feel rather dumb.

And yeah, I found this via tfn too and called Teague "Fig" for a while.

Well, it's been fun guys.

I really wish I had discovered this site sooner, to share in more fun times with you all. I can honestly say that I have learned more about films, and how to respect other people's opinions regarding different points of view than in many other interactions.

I am extremely grateful to the connections that have been formed here. I have listened to TPM and AtoC commentaries more than is probably healthy due finding it so enjoyable and funny. But, having this community has been far more enjoyable than any of the commentaries and it is frustrating to not be able to take it everywhere like I do the podcasts wink

I wish you all well in your future projects, and offer an open invite to my friends here to feel free to let me know when you are in the Seattle area (since I doubt you'll make it to Northern Idaho wink) to make arrangements to meet up, and partake in a beverage of your choice, on me.

Teague, Brian, Mike, Trey, Eddie, Paulu, Alex, Zoe, Anthony, and all the rest, thank you. Thank you ever so much for allowing me to be a part of your lives. It means more than I could ever say.

And Teague, better keep us up to date, man. Because, you guys do good work.

Also, just because I like this meme so much:

Shoot, I got busy with another thing last night; I'll get 'er tonight for sure.

re: the Masters' showdown: I have worked on ways of making it possible for people to duel without being together in the same physical spacetime. (Once, I had to fight my own clone...) It's tricky to shoot but fun to VFXify.

edit:
Cut and print, great stuff FP. Thanks again!

You're welcome. Glad it turned out ok smile

Quick question for my friends out there: any one familiar with "Space Command" a Kickstarter project for a more, I'll say retro-style, sci-fi? They are still in production phase, but it is coming along pretty nicely.

I listened to it, and wanted to keep listening. Looking forward to your psychology take on it, which is yet to come...?
It'd be nice to lay some Hobbit score underneath your commentary but that probably breaches copyright, even if it's not a commercial product you're making.
The theatrical Hobbit 3 will be out on Blu-Ray soon, so you can do a 8 hour trilogy commentary because I don't think Friends in Your Head are gonna be bothered wink

For those (like myself) questioning whether it was a good idea to break it into three movies, we now have the answer from Box Office Mojo - another $1 billion. We should be lucky they didn't break it into four parts.  big_smile

Yes, the psych part will come towards the end, with more analysis on the themes I see running through the film, and series as a whole.

I'm testing out the format but trying for good parts, bad parts, analysis. Not sure how well that will work, and I don't want to get to technical in the psychological part, mostly because I don't know how entertaining that will be.

If I'm feeling real brave I'll try the commentary track, but I doubt I'll have the uninterrupted silence to really comment on it smile My wife loves the film, and that means no one to watch the kids, whose comments, while entertaining, will probably not be very informative wink

I have found that being able to exercise in some way helps my mood greatly when it comes to working on projects. For me, getting out and riding my bike or doing something active gets my brain going in a different way, and sometimes gives some distance between the project and myself.
