A friend of mine is the bassist in a locally formed band and they just released their first EP. I doubt that country is a particularly popular genre here (I don't really like it either), but I thought I'd share.
If you liked the TPB movie, you'll probably enjoy the TV show more. It's generally regarded as being better than both of the movies.
For the uninitiated, Trailer Park Boys is a mockumentary set in the fictional Sunnyvale Trailer Park (located near Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) that follows the usually illegal exploits of some of its more prominent inhabitants. It's crude, rude, and contains an excessive amount of dope (as in marijuana) and liquor, but the underlying themes of friendship and family really give the show heart.
Here is a small compilation that highlights some, but by no means all, of the funnier moments. Probably NSFW.
"Because Science is a 'theory' - not testable, observable, nor repeatable."
Ugh. She basically defines the whole god damn point of science, and then says it isn't science. In order for a theory to be accepted, it has to be tested, repeated, and observed to the point of redundancy. And when an observation refutes or challenges a theory, the theory must either be changed or discarded (after ample testing of the observation which challenged the theory in the first place.) I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but fuck. Blind faith (i.e willful ignorance, i.e stupidity) is quite possibly the largest detriment to the human race.

Great summary, BDA. I love all of these shows, except maybe This Hour Has 22 Minutes. One thing I would add to that list is Trailer Park Boys.
Welp...might as well copy/paste my FB comment on the Xmas special:
I'd label my reaction more than disappointing -- rather up there around "tiresome". Even ignoring the in-episode things that made me go "wait, what? That's dumb." it was a kitchen-sink style story to try and tie up the vast amount of convoluted plot turns of the last several years. To me it felt more like they were desperately trying explain away all the nonsense before Capaldi arrived rather than the culmination of some sort of master story arc for Smith.
On that note, I second the assessment that Smith's run has been a hot mess of macguffin after macguffin. I like Matt Smith, but I loathe the silly/immature/selfish/bumbling/whiny/fool of a Doctor he was forced to play. Smith's run had a handful of amazing episodes, and they were almost always when the show decided to treat the Doctor like an actual character, rather than a walking gag-machine.
I'm intrigued by Capaldi and like the idea of him as the Doctor. The thing is, it's not on him at all, I feel. It's on whether the writers/producers of Who decide to take the show back to it's roots as a sci-fi adventure show (well, technically it's roots are an educational kids show, but you know what I mean) instead of the contrived spaceman fairytale they attempted -- and failed, in my opinion -- to pull off with Smith's run.
I agree with pretty much everything you said.
Well, the following are what I make an effort to watch over the holidays: Robbie the Reindeer: Hooves of Fire, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966), and the Trailer Park Boys Christmas Special. Aside from that, I don't really have any "tradition" movies for this time of year.
I love the book too. And it's because of this that I strongly dislike the direction Jackson went. There's no consistency between these movies and the ones Jackson made a decade ago. I was worried back when this was just going to be two movies, because I didn't see how the Hobbit could possibly be more than one movie (even if it said movie was closing in on 3 hours). Now we have 3 movies, each jammed to the brim full of shit that completely deviates from the original story line (of course this is only an assumption for the next two, but based on the trailer...)
If your sister loves them, great. But in know way does that justify what Jackson did, at least in my mind.
Well colour me excited.
Kyle wrote:I looked around after 24 hours on mic at my friends, old and brand new, that I'd just done this insane thing with. I'd been awake for 55 hours, and in that time I'd worked a full day at a factory, explored the secret conspiracy of Denver International Airport for 9 hours, and helped save the lives of hundreds of people by talking about Harry Potter for 24 hours.
So I said it- "Seriously guys, this is the best thing I've ever done. This was the best spent day of my life."
Thanks for not booing me off the mic, guys. Thanks fpr everything.
You were a fantastic panelist, Kyle. I wish you could be on more episodes.
Seconded. Honestly, all of the panelists were great. The fact you guys were still producing top-notch commentary towards the end is testament to all of your guys' strength of character and will.
The War Doctor (between the 8th and 9th, hence 8.5) by the 11th Doctor.
8.5 x 11. Standard letter format.
I can moderate as well, if needed.
Teague mentions the timezone in the video on the main page.
I'm with Zarban on this. In terms of loyalty, I'd postulate that Neville was much more loyal than Ron.

A dramatic reading of One Direction YouTube flame war comments.
I hardly think it's contrived. For 6 years they have all been under the protective eye of some of the most powerful wizards in Britain (and arguably the world.) Then all of that gets pulled out from under them. 3 17 year olds trying to defeat Voldemort with no outside help, no definitive plan, and no hope.
All working now. sorry about that Mr Kittens!
Cheers
I'm getting a "file not found" when trying to play

I think the great thing about Classic Who is that you can just jump around and not really lose anything. My suggestion would be to just check out a story from each of the old Doctors and see which ones you like. Once you've got a taste for them, just follow your favourite for a while or carry on hopping around - or if you're feeling brave, marathon the entire thing.
We recently released an Extended Edition episode on Classic Who, so that might help you decide.
Thanks for the advice. American Netflix seems to have a smattering of episodes from every era, so I'll start with that.
Also, you can count me as a regular listener of EE from now on. I've been going back and listening to the older episodes (started with the RTD vs Moffat.) Good stuff so far.
Currently -
Star Trek TNG
Buffy
Not a very extensive list, but school has been particularly demanding this term. I'd like to start getting into Classic Who, but I'm not really sure where to start.
I was watching SHIELD as well, but I completely lost interest after the 2nd or 3rd episode.

Finals? What finals? Don't my professors know that there are people on the internet who want to spend an entire day talking about Harry Potter?!?
I can just imagine the looks of incredulity on their faces if I used that as an excuse when applying for a deferred exam.
