a podcast discussing the films of Terry Gilliam ?!?
and maybe ..... the "Gilliam curse" ?!? hmm

Did your showing get cheers when, in Stark's penthouse, the Hulk smashed Loki mid-monologue?

In the screening that I saw....Yes!
In fact, it got to the point the people were cheering and laughing so loudly, that you couldn't hear some of the lines delivered. In this very scene, after Hulk smashes Loki into the ground like a ragdoll, he says something as he is walking away. I couldn't hear because of the cheering/laughing, but, if you watched his mouth, it looked(to me) like Hulk was saying: "Asshole." as he walked away.

A friend of mine, who saw this earlier, told me that this wasn't the case. Hulk says something to the effect of "Puny god" ..... or... "Puny weakling."

I guess this makes sense, but, wouldn't it be better if the Hulk was just tired of LOKI's bullshit, smashes him into the ground, and afterwards, he says: "Asshole." ???
I think so.

...and how about an episode dedicated to talking about directors and their bodies of work.
there are some directors who have built an amazing catalog of films that when you watch, you think: "oh yeah. this is definitely _____!"
examples:
James Cameron,
Ridley Scott,
Tony Scott,
Chris Nolan,
Guy Ritchie ........ etc...
What do you guys think ?!?!?!

I don't think you could ever say any of the Python guys were ever IN the Hollywood system, at least not long enough to get fed-up with it (apart from the usual wanting control of whatever they're involved in, and not getting it). That said, a look at those who did bolt would be interesting, as well as those who came in late after making their mark elsewhere.

I certainly don't want to give the impression that I thought these guys were Hollywood heavyweights, or the biggest stars of their day, but ... they did have an incredible success with "Life of Brian" and "Holy Grail." And with the exception of John Cleese, most of the Pythons have chosen to stay out of the Hollywood system and focus on educational/travel programs/etc... Gilliam is still trying to do his own films. Idle has focused mostly on writing.

I just thought that this would be a pretty interesting discussion. And we could even discuss actors/actresses other than the Pythons ! big_smile

How about something along the lines of a "Where are they now?" topic.
I was recently watching the bluray for "Adventures of Baron Munchausen" ... and in the special features, there is an interview with Eric Idle. He basically ends up saying that he's fed-up with the Hollywood system, and that's why he doesn't like doing films anymore.
I'm sure that there are many other actors/actresses who have just decided to pull the plug on Hollywood.
Is this interesting enough to anyone besides myself ?!

I saw this last night and was floored.
I know Avengers is going to be big, and I am impatiently awaiting for Prometheus...... but......
This is easily the one film I am most excited for this year. It looks like Bane just might be the one villain to have focused on after Ledger's passing.

How about an intermission which discusses the film scores and the way they affect the films.
Many films have fantastic scores, and they enhance the films. Example: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws,
the Pirates of the Caribbean movies...... and many many more.
You guys could discuss how a certain film would suffer/benefit from having a score from a particular composer.
Example: Batman(1989) if the score was done by someone other than Danny Elfman.

how about an episode discussing the different studios releasing, and then re-releasing multiple versions of a single movie on dvd/bluray. Example:  Watchmen(single disc blu ray "Director's Cut")  and then, months later releasing the 4 disc "Ultimate Cut".
I'ld be very interested in hearing others discuss how they feel about this, and when they feel ok buying a new movie.
Is it ok to buy this movie 3 times, if it's a movie that deserves the recognition ? is it simply the studio milking the audience for more money ?!

Please discuss.  wink
