I'm another fan of The Cowboys, it's bloody good. And I am really not a fan of the genre at all. It's a coming of age drama though, maybe that is why I like it.

Check out the Richard Donner Cut of Superman II, guys, it's a better version. The humor is more subtle, much of the silliness is gone.

Indeed, it's much more serious, I think the Donner Cut is far superior, it's a shame about the ending.

Wow. I don't like that Ewing, that Ewing is a bit of a dick.

Well, not the entire internet. Some folk on here haven't. big_smile

That is what Smaug looks like in the trailer, yes. So, sadly, you have been spoiled.

Boo, I love most of the Broken arrow score, as well as The Rock, Peacemaker, and Crimson Tide.

I love The Rock and the Crinsom Tide scores smile

I think the Peacemaker score really doesn't hold up, though. Used to listen to it often when I was younger, along with Broken Arrow. I listened to it for the first time in ages recently and thought it was shite. I do like the theme for Broken Arrow, though, the piece they used for Dewey's theme in Scream 2. That's awesome.

This has been bothering me for a while and I need to say something.

In this episode, I make a joke about Padme "asking for it" (i.e to get raped) with the way she dresses in the fireside scene. There's certainly a joke of some kind to be made about the mixed signals going on in that scene -- mainly in Lucas' handling of it -- but in the years since this recording I've grown to realize that so wasn't it.

I've never been called out on this, publicly or privately, so I'm calling myself out. I can't change the recording but I want to go on record here and say -- to anyone who has listened to this or may do so in the future, and is hurt or upset by a misguided attempt at humor of which I've come to be ashamed -- I'm sorry. I hope to do better.

This is why we love you, Dorkman.

This and the times you are drunk off your tits during a commentary big_smile

Zimmer's score for The Peacemaker is pretty bad. And I'm not too keen on his scores for the Sherlock Holmes films. And I used to love it but apart from the main theme (Brothers) his score for Broken Arrow is rubbish too.

Just sayin' big_smile

Yeah, Zack Snyder is who Almond White meant by the term 'real filmmaker'.

Does The Green Hornet count as a 'Superhero' film?

Yeah, it was Nolan I was thinking of too. And I wouldn't say Ang Lee is terrible either.

fwiw, Armond White liked it a lot.

I was going to read it but couldn't get past his first line-

Man of Steel is the first superhero movie to be directed by a real filmmaker since Tim Burton took on Batman in 1989

Only because the person who watched it liked the film at the time. Their reviews are personal opinion of the reviewer and they were changed for dvd releases as they were reviewed by someone else.

Anyway, the UK newspapers seem to be settled on 3/5 which is still a good score. It currently has 60% on RT, 52 Fresh, 34 rotten so not a masterpiece but not really a disaster either, apparently. I won't be seeing it until next Friday sad

Some episodes are doing better than others but they appear to be getting a couple of hundred. Which is nice.

That's pretty good for a fledgling podcast with little advertising.  I pimp it in the Empire forums, so hopefully folk from there listen (I link to it in my sig and update the topic when the new one is released). I know one guy there did and he said I sounded more Scottish than he imagined. I tone the accent down! big_smile

Static Blu Ray menus are the worst! What's the point of having the technology to make animated menus and just sticking a still photo on there? Ugh. It stinks of laziness and not actually giving a fuck.

That dude is known over here for being in the show Misfits but (very) recently he was also seen in a sitcom starring alongside Sir Ian McKellan-

I think you have a better chance of a discussion when the commentary gets released and there is an official thread for it. smile
