I'm 22, not 12. smile

I remember it, but it's a different thing. Steam was made for Windows, which was already what Half-Life used in the first place. It forced users to get Steam, but it didn't change anything to their computers.

Half life 3. Wanna bet its exclusive to steam machines?

I would bet against it. Valve isn't that stupid and inconsiderate towards their long-time fans (which is a huge community).

The Half-Life series could define my whole life. So I'm just gonna go ahead and wait for the official announcement before getting excited for real. I've been waiting for this for six years. And I never really doubted they were working on it this whole time - probable creating a whole new engine. We'll see.

I am the host, Vince. I am the one who talks!

After reading this, I'd actually like to play Jimmy, if that's all right with everyone. smile

Well, if we have to call dibs on these... I guess Xiao Pei could suit me. smile

Would it be relevant to point out how much voice time each character gets? People like me who are doing this for the first time might not want to pick a character who ends up having the most lines.

What's been said on another board is that Jesse has the opportunity to get out of this clean, once and for all. Shooting Walt would have kept him in this particular world, but he went "Fuck this, I'm done. I'm out of all this. This is your world, Walt, not mine."

EDIT: Well, he does strangle Todd before. But come on, give the kid a break.

All of what Teague just said, plus a big hug.

Likes for everyone. I love you all.

(this is me coping with Breaking Bad being over. It'll pass)

Okay. Well. I'm just gonna go ahead and keep staring a my blank screen for a few hours.

This is over. I don't think I'm fully realizing yet.

Congratulations to Trey, though. When I watched the episode, it all made sense and I thought, "How could I think it would go the other way?" but in the mean time, it made me so fucking tense during the first part of the episode. When I realized why Walt was impersonating a journalist, my brain crashed and I couldn't move. The whole length with Walt visiting the house and the couple not knowing he was here... Goddamn.

My thing about that scene was that there was no reason for Walt to interact with them at all. He could have been sitting in the background, we could have gotten a little meaningless "update" conversation from Lydia & Todd, then at some point she sips her tea and Walt leaves quietly. It would take up slightly less screen time, and would be just as effective. In fact, there'd be some irony in that she would die via such a "hands off" approach that she's normally on the other end of. A little line between her and Todd would also explain why she was calling him later that evening, too.

Like Doc Sub, I don't think it would have worked. Furthermore, it's Walt. He wanted them to see him. He wanted to read in Lydia's eyes she was going to kill him. It's not only about what's the most efficient and safe here, it's also about how Walt wants to do it.

I wouldn't worry that much about Walt's fatal wound, either. The whole scene was a big mess. Bullets flying everywhere, shrapnel, stuff. That's how it is in real life. It's a mess. I agree Walt's stomach wound doesn't make sense as made by his big ass gun.... but it's a big damn mess! smile

What now for Jesse? I have no idea. I'd say with what happened to him, he's going to fly away from the meth world very quickly. But the finale doesn't care. What it says is, "Jesse lived happily ever after." That's good enough for me. I love this character so much.

And this time, I would like to praise Anna Gunn's acting. Amazing... simply amazing.

This. So much this.

It's kind of like the light side/dark side ending choice we have in some games. I think these two directions purely depend on how Gilligan wants Walter White to end his story. The message will be tremendously different.

This is why I love this show so much. Who can really be sure what Walt's last choice is going to be? He's a really complex character.

PS: Guys, if you're ever to make another special WAYDM episode about a show, I believe it should be about Breaking Bad. There's so much to talk about.

Makes sense, but here too I saw it differently.

When he ends his conversation with Skyler on the phone, he says he still has things left to do. Then he tries to bully Saul into helping him have his revenge (which fails, thank you cancer). His initial plan was to leave Albuquerque for a while and come back to kill everyone.

Then, we have his phone call to Flynn, who breaks him by rejecting him. Walt gives up, he turns himself in. But then, we have this - convenient, we'll all agree on that - broadcast which brings his anger back, and then some. We have Gray Matter which, as has pointed out BBQ, is one of the reasons Heisenberg came to life in the first place. And here they are, saying basically that Walter White is no one. His face at this moment is pure disgust; his wounded oversized pride must overwhelmingly rush back here. And to top it off, he learns that his blue meth is back on the market; someone's stealing Heisenberg's work.

The only thing I can imagine coming to his mind here is "I will slaughter them all". He doesn't even think about his family for a second; that's in the past, it's over. Judgment time.

I really don't see him doing that, for some reason. I do think he's given up on his family, not because he doesn't care anymore, but because he's understood that he can't help them. His own son doesn't want anything to do with him, and I think he got the message. His whole reaction in the last part of the episode isn't "Oh, it doesn't matter, I'll find a way", but "Okay, screw this. They'll be fine without me. I'll kill everyone else".

I love these guys so much.

Yeah, it makes sense. I guess we'll see. Seven long days, man. smile

EDIT : who wouldn't finish a pizza with only one slice left, Teague? Really.

Trey wrote:

He wants to die as ol' Walter White, rather than Heisenberg.    The werewolf changing back to human form as he lays dying, you might say.

Funny. I was going to say the opposite.

Up until his conversation with Flynn, Walt's goal was still to get money to his family. But when Flynn completely rejects him, he gives up. His only good motivation is gone. The only thing that still made him Walter White - his family - is gone.

And right after that, we have Gretchen who says "The sweet, kind, brilliant man that we once knew long ago, he's gone". Walt's reaction to that, that simple glance, tells me he accepts this idea. Walter White is dead. Only Heisenberg remains. And he wants revenge, because Heisenberg's only motivations are his greed and his ego.

Next week's episode's true title? Heisenberg goes on a rampage.

Geoffrey Rush is amazing. He was stunning in The King's Speech (which is an amazing movie, too).

Ooh, I've got one. A movie version of Half-Life 2 directed by Alfonso Cuaron. You can get basically anyone to direct the first movie, but the second game is where things really start getting interesting. If Half-Life 1 is Die Hard meets Alien, then Half-Life 2 is Children of Men meets War of the Worlds.

I've thought about this many many times. The world of Half-Life 2 brought to screen by Cuarón has given me many a wet dream.

I'm digging this one with something I made the other night.

Salmon, spinach and goat cheese tart. Some eggs, cream, herbes de provence, and a bit of grated Parmesan to help it grill.

It was goooooood. I even made the pastry myself, as I forgot to buy some ready-made.

I can agree with all those things you just said, but the result is - to me at least - boring. I felt like nothing really happened in this movie. There is no character development - and you might tell me I'm wrong to look for something like this in this kind of movie, but I still need it. I may just not be my kind of movies.

I'll watch it again with the FIYH commentary, and who knows? It might grow on me. I hope it does, because right now I feel like I didn't watch it with the right state of mind.

This is not my week. I'm starting to think I'm missing something, especially after reading Mike's review of the movie.
