Ahhm y' hucklebury.
I've used VLC to transcode (you can has batch mode from the command prompt), but I don't think Prores is on the menu there. Since I don't know FC, this may be a stupid question: why must you have prores, can't you use the intermediate mp4 you're creating?
I'd also expect the camera's manfuacturer(s) should provide an app or a codec that could herlp you.
Recycled my ff, non-specific jedi costume. Wife did a Leia New Hope gown and buns
...and the hair thing, too. <b-dume, chish>
Ah, Bollywood. Brings me to a story...there's a Hindi video store up in Darien or Downer Grove tha tI drove by a few times, unitl I finally had to go in. So I asked them if they had any movies in english. Blank stares. So I followed up with, "What about dubbedin english?" Eye rolls, some veiled hostility. "Sub-titlesd?" So they dumped a pan of curried veg on my shirt and threw me out. No lie.
Shooting in the city without a permit is also on the sketchy side. Handheld they won't stop you, but put it on sticks and they'll swarm. If they think you're going to make money, they want their piece(s) of the action. Not sure whether they have legal standing if they see obvious landmarks in for-profit work that they didn't approve.
Fucking cowboys in space. Possibly the earliest use of CG in a television series. Wicked awesome end title theme. Let's Ride.

Sir Broderick as Ferris Bueller
I sense that there's something missing here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Puppeteers
but I can't quite put my finger on what.
I guess it would either help out Ryan with his mash-up(s) or totally steal his thunder...it would make it easier for "us" to string together clips of shows (with or without the various coordinated video) to make you guys sound smarter or stupider as our whims dictate. I can already hear a 3 minute piece of, "things Teague shouted from the bathroom," not to mention the, "Trey wins the argument," montage.
Not sure how much more than a text database it could be, though... are there any widgets or apps that make cloud-based audio editing possible? That'd be the extreme of my tech-nerdy inspiration.
So... what are the results of Project Halp going to be? Not just a video, obviously. A searchable database of stats for each movie? A time-coded summary list of content of each commentary? Intelligent apes?
+1 (nutz to the little button thingies)
A neat idea that just popped in there: there could be a log of the various 'greatest hits,' and the community could use that to create their own playlists. This could also try to capitalize on Matt's database of facts.
I kinda get/got a kick out of logging through the commentaries, as several others clearly also do. Makes the 1/12th of my life spent commuting more exciting in a number of ways.

24: Full Metal Jacket
25: Team America
26: Dark City
27: Alien
I know everyone's getting sick of hearing about it, but I'm going to add my voice to the clamor for the Disney classic "Mary Poppins." If you've ever met a smokestack maintenance engineer, you know this movie is to them as "Caddyshack" is to golf course wildlife. Also, Teague's recent tube-whoring musical extravaganza has lodged the Sweep song in my head for the last two days.
Mine own eyes hath seen Matt Vayda produce an energy ball from his 7th chakra, with which he proceeded to dissipate a tropical storm before it could become a hurricane. The ensuing monsoons were followed in due course by a statistically anomalous rise in birthrates. Resulting from that will be an increase in future tax withholdings which will fund the exploration of both inner and outer space in the 22nd and 23rd centuries.

It's official.
<returns to wistfully flicking NASA mission patches into the fireplace>
F-14's, sure that'd be the last post before I chimed in. Someting about the wide spacing on the nozzles and the pivotable wings. I spent countless hours (ineptly) copying elevation drawings of Tomcats from library books on a bit of formica that served as my 9-year old, future engineer's drafting table.
